[Center]Kewlest Idea In the history of kewl.[/Center]

I was watching Sky One yesterday night, and saw a new show called "Over There", Its all about war and shi-fizzlemonizzle. And I had the most 100% sick Idea.

You know when you play an RPG, you feel like, its diminishing your Fighting skills?

What about (YES I KNOW DX IS NOT CS, BUT I DO NOT HAVE CS) DX:War?
Or Battlefield:DX? Or DX:Battlefield? (Yes, I know i was working on DX:Live, But I figured, let DX:RPG, deal with the life simulator, crowding they're area isn't kewl.)

You start in the training camp, and have to go through a battery of tests (This is still conceptual.), THEN you must pass a general Intelligence test. (I hate stupid people on my fscking server.)

And if you fail said test, you can't try again for one day. (How can I work this out?)

But if you pass, you get a bunk bed, Assigned access to a bunker, Some cash, And a candy bar :P.

And there are helicopters, that take you to battlefields. Where you get assigned a parachute.

Your designated on to a team, and you pick a kit. You dive out of the plane, and use the parachute.

Your team sits in a dug-out while the other team throw gas at you.
You pull out the sniper, and take one of they're team out, sending them back to the Army Medical Center.

But your team manage to make it to the objective, And then win.

Then they climb the fastrope to the helicopter, which teleports them back to base, with about 2000 credits.

Then they can do whatever they want, Hop the truck which takes them to the supplies convoy, to buy better weapon kits, W\E.

There are also just guys around, For decoration. all doing idle stuff.
Also, I'd like to see bots, so If there is a team that doesn't want to get killed, but wants to train, I'd need bots, to fight back....

Then there is more.. punishments.
Like firing a gun, the officers react, and shoot you with the Jail-Gunâ?¢ which OBVIOUSLY teleports you to jail, and then the police officer gets you out every 5 minutes. (Dunno how i'd get an NPC to push a button every 5 minutes..)

So as you can probably tell, this is alot automated by bots.

-WHAT I SHALL NEED-

-) Two additional mappers.
-) Three Good Coders.
-) One-Two Good Moddelers. (Sniper Rifles.. 50.cal's..)
-) 5-10 Beta Testers. Once we get past beta stage 0.09.
-) About a week so i can have my laptop back, and this project can stop being in conceptual stages.


Anyone besides me think this is a good idea? Playing an RPG without diminishing your fighting skills ;)

Anyone Steals This IDEA, Will be immediatly exposed. as Not everyone is Ripping Assholes.

I'd say don't bother. Only thing that can come out of this is improvement in your mapping/coding skills and in projectleading exp. If you are lucky, there is a good chance you can release some little part of this project as add - on mod. Not trying to discourage you or anything its just that it is near impossible that you finish it (if you start with it anyway) and its unlikely you find enough players to play the mod, once its finished.

I think that if one person played even a FRACTION of what I'm thinking of, they would like it.

A Free Roaming War Simulator, based on a server, I'd like that.

We don't even need to do moddelling....

You never tryed to make a RPG mod do you, many gave up.....

I have AA tyvm, I just want to see that kind of thing In DX, as not everyone can download AA, or can get CS, Isn't that what a community is about? Helping other people to do things?

Just playing AA and turning a blind eye to the idea would be silly.

The idea is pretty hardcore for a Deus Ex mod. You will have extreme difficulty in getting a team that know what they are doing and are willing to help.l

Project HDTP is pretty easy actually, if you know how. They are replacing models and textures, that's about it.

I was hoping to help with that seeing as he would most likely give up on the project after few weeks already. Now having said that it is possible he will stick with it just few more extra weeks just to prove me wrong XD


I don't think you get the idea of the scale of this project Derek. It would take quite a teameffort and a lot of time to make it playable and even then there are quite a number of problems.

My suggestion: make a plan about small modification and get few skilled people or good friends and map/mod away and make it shine. Or join some bigger project. Im sure [A] has few going. Just speculating.

You could make Maps/Mods in small bits at a time that are still playable and when you finish all pieces you just like piece them all together, is this possble?

If so it means you could play like a Preview while you make the other pieces of it.

And heres what to do for real concept, its not hard to imagine how the gears of the DX engine works, so when you put your plan down, make sure you know what you are talking about

I've already done the battlefield, Now I'm looking into modelling :).


Try Milkshape for starters. Then go 3Ds when your done with the starter shizz. 3DS will be your basic tool. If you think you want better models than 3DS, go to Lightwave.
