[noob!] How do I copy things from existing maps and put them in new ones?

Postby Wounded Ronin » Fri Oct 05, 07 12:20 am

Hello again, everyone. I guess it's time for me to ask another newbie question.

Many websites advise taking things from existing maps in order to save time when making a new map. For example, if I would like to have a pool table in a map I'm making, I should copy one from an existing Deus Ex map instead of trying to make one on my own in most cases.

However, I am having a little bit of trouble with this. I've been trying to copy pool tables by ctl-left clicking on each surface on the pool table, and then going Edit->Copy. When I go to paste, though, I never seem to be able to produce another pool table.

Am I not selecting the pool table in the correct way?

Thanks a lot for your patience and your continuing help.

You mean after I've ctl-left clicked on all the surfaces of the pool table I should release the mouse, hold ctl-C, load the new map, and then hit ctl-v?

Nope. Then you're using the 3D view. You need to use the view with all the brushes in it. Select all BRUSHES, not SURFACES of the thing you want to copy, and then do Ctrl + C -> Ctrl + V

Instead you may also download 164 prefabs with almost all decorations from the game.
