based on the last scene of saving private ryan, war movie that contains D-day and the arriving on ohama beach.

Don't always rotate the red brush to weird positions to have brushes that are in, let's say 45 degrees. You should rather click the vertexes in the corner of the brush and then hold ALT and then drag the vertexes around to the positions where you want them to be. When doing this always turn off vertex snapping 8) If you are doing very small detail put grid down to 8 but don't go under 4 ;)

I don't see what the problem is with a low grid.
