Hello all.

I've just thought about making a computer that logs the user in as admin, provided he/she provides the correct (non-extractable, maybe gathered from a config file?) login.

1) I know it's lazy, but I honestly don't know how to check if this is possible.... is it?

and

2) On the off-chance that this hasn't been done before, do you think it would be within the scope of someone who has never made a mod from scratch before? Oh, and has it been done before?

EDIT: A bit more info - just to say, I've a little experience with ComputerPersonal editing, as I once made a terminal which displayed a custom, personally-tailored insult to whoever logged in, and gave different insults according to the login!

ANOTHER EDIT: Also, the thingy above was done in UnrealEd, so if you're gonna explain something, please don't assume I'll know what ur talking about if you talk in UScript at me lol.

Apart from the admin bot thing from SMG_Mod, I've never seen one. And you might have trouble getting the login screen to even show in MP; it doesn't like windows very much.

Ugh. Windows + MP = HELL IN A HAND-BASKET.

I made something like it, but didn't realise SMG_mod had one too. Mine was a SpiderBot2, SMG_Mod had a Greasel with a weird light effect.

I have a triple boot pc lol, I have ubuntu linux, win 98 and win xp installed.

PS: Allan, sorry for mucking with ur adminbot lol, in case you read bout me changing the voice to mine... I made sure everyone knew it was urs tho.

Problem with the SMG_Mod admin bot is that it required the password to be set on it before other players could log in with it.

The amount of times I've seen players get kicked for adminlogin abuse by frobbing bots before they are ready is quite large.

That's actually a fair point - one which I'd not thought of.

I've not actually used the smg_mod adminbot. I dislike smg_mod for 3 reasons:

1. RemoteKillswitch
2. The infinity pistols
3. RemoteKillswitch

So anyways... thanks very muchly for your help guys; I'm about to start working towards creating an adminlogin system based around the ComputerPersonal...

...I'll just have to find out the hard way whether it will work or not!

having to set the password CAN be good for these reasons:

if u have a game mod like dmpx or alrighty, and u can allow people to summon w/o the password, if they summon a cheatbot they wont be able to use it will they?

DMPX? Never heard of it...

I used to use alrighty, coz the features are brilliant, but it caused a fair amount of lag =/

I'm working on some fun computer-based mods, I doubt an admin computer will be one of them, but nevermind.
