How Do I Copy Stuff In UnrealEd?

Hi all.

Gosh this is like my 3rd question in as many days.... =/

Anyway, I'm fiddling with Smuggler at the moment, and for one of my ideas for an edit, I actually need to COPY the whole smuggler map, and place it adjacent to the original map.

Ill rephrase coz that made no sense. What I need is to be able to make 2 smuggler's lairs, next to each other, in the same map file.

I've tried select all and copy, but it doesn't seem to work.

Can anyone tell me how I could do this? Thanks.

you gotta surround the entire map with the builder brush then select all & copy 8)

First, right click on any brush, and select "Select All"

Then, go to "Edit" and select "Copy"

After that, go to "Edit" and select "Paste"
Image
The result should look like the following image. As you can see, the brushes do not match, use Ctrl + LeftMouse button to move the 'new' Smuggler onto the spot where the original Smuggler is.
Image
Then it should look like this image. Enlarge one of the sideviews, and move the 'new' Smuggler up, using Ctrl + LeftMouse.

And there! That's it. As you can see, I added a black arrow, which points to a grey brush. Delete that brush, and then rebuild.

Thank you very much.

Brilliant with the screenshots, too.

This mite be a silly question, but does the deletion of that grey brush have something to do with why the whole "new" smuggler was a giant BSP hole when I rebuilt? Coz I didn't know about deleting it.

Or maybe I just did it wrong.

Anyhoo - can't thank ya enough. Cheers!

The grey brush is a copy of the red brush, and yes, it fucks things up, and sometimes (not sure though) creates BSP holes.

Simply don't copy the red one then.

Or delete the copied one afterwards? ;)

Oh god 'ere we go...

:p

I wanted to copy a map coz... well - you ever played a map called Duality2005?

My plan was to add a warp zone to the vent in Smuggler, and host it for fun, and sorta make it so that when plauyers go thru the "mirror in the vent" they end up in a duplicate smuggler, with a few interesting differences from the original smuggler.

It worked, too!

Yes, but nobody knows, what this dodgy brush has already done to the map before you delete it! :o

It does nothing, really. I once had it in a 29MB map, it created some BSP holes, I deleted it, no BSP holes at all.

wow - 29megabytes worth of potential BSP holes....
