Map Request

Postby Shinobi » Tue Feb 22, 11 3:23 pm

This is more of a challenge than a request.

DX has never been known for fantastic daylight maps. RATESC is probably the best I've seen done with the engine.

For those of you who have played Half-Life 1, I'm looking to make a map like the desert mountain one (y'know, with the steep inclines and impressive skybox).

It's possible, I'm just not good enough to do it.

Think Tomb Raider 3 Nevada levels, and you're sorta on the right track.

Any takers??

Have you tried terrain generator for UT? I forgot how exactly it was called though.

Also I believe the mountain maps of Project 2027 were made in UEd3. You might want to try it.

Didn't realise they'd be backwards compatible.

Just dl-ed DX Editing pack 2.2 from this very forum, may prove helpful, i've never tried custom modelling and importing much apart from textures.

btw - what's the best way to preserve quality when importing textures??

do not use sizes higher than 256px unless you target enhanced OpenGL users

other than that, dunno

You can't obviously import static meshes and effects, but pure BSP geometry — why not?
