UED3

Postby Shinobi » Thu Apr 14, 11 10:30 am

I read in the Project 2027 forum that Ded used UED3 for some maps.

Soo... what is it, is it compatible with Deus Ex to an acceptable level, and where do I get it please?

Just fancy experimenting.

No.

You just make something with BSP, NOT MODELS, then you just copy-paste it over to UED.

Well, that's what I do with UT2004's editor. Never tried UED3s, yet. But yeah. Only BSPs, T3ds, or whatever we call those normal brushes.

So UED3 cannot be used to make maps?

Oh nonono, it can. What I meant to say was; I've only tried this with UT2004's editor. But I guess there is no other way, so yeah, I bet it's the same method as what I do with UT2004's editor. Simply open up your DX's UED1(/2), then UED3's editor, the stuff which are bsp (brushes, t3ds, whatever they're called) are copy-able to UED1. So you simply use UED3 to make stuff at in, for example, a big landscape or something, or some complex items on brushes, and then just simply copy them at UED3, and press paste on your DX's UED1. Only drawback I can currently remember is that, if the textures are not same/those textures used in UED3 are not imported in your DX, they'll all have that default moon-texture, so use DX's textures to make stuff.

Oh and, I also remember this cool feature that UT2004/UED3(I guess?) have, it can convert Meshes to BSP, or BSP to Mesh, which is awesome

With that, you can do alotta things, only thing I can write now are the following:

1) Make Meshes to BSP, copy-pasting them at UED1, with this you can create different models to movers or so.
2) Make complex brushes to models, so it's stable in UED1

But anyway, it's pretty useful, I used UT2004's editor to convert models into brushes therefore making awesome movers and/or map prefabs, like cars, etc, on brushes/bsp!

I'm not looking to make a really complex map with terrain. I am looking to try and make some cool movers though.

I'm no good with models meshes and stuff. Just wondered if it would build the map better than Ued1

Well, obviously, since you have alot of tools and stuff, which is better than UED1.

You can copy-paste over like, movers, brushes (BSP, t3d..), etc, you can even convert models in the UED3 to BSP so you can copy-paste them too, over at DX's UED1.

Thanks DJ.

I'll give it a try. I'm useless with movers anyway. At the moment I'm using Deus Ex Editing Pack 2.2

I have Fuhrpark mod, converted this way to t3d files. Some textures work in DX, some don't, but it's not a big deal you can retexture the movers. I can upload it somewhere.
