Deus Ex Alpha

So I'm thinking creating a follower mod for Deus Ex 1. So far i know how to make the conversation commands for the particular npc, but it seems that the conversation is only available in the npc only if it's in that specific level. I'm also having a difficult time trying to figure out how the follower would follow the player when loading into a new area. I want it so that I'm able to access the follower's conversation orders in any level I go to and that the follower npc will teleport with me to wherever area I load into. Any suggestions on how to go on this? Thank you.
