At Anyone who can do DeusEx Mesh Animations

Postby Allan » Sun Apr 09, 06 2:53 pm

Ok, i found this cool Minigun mesh on the net(From Tack's site) and wondered how i would go about animating it? I can't seem to find any tutorials for this on the net, and all the ones i found are about animating skeletons for player meshes, not weapons... I'm so confused...

Any help for meh?

Good luck with just importing it, 500+ polys will be superhard :P

What I'm trying to say is, that mesh will be hard to animate, because then the weapon "Minigun" will be over 2 mb or something.

Hint, try making your own models instead of importing what Tack finds >_>

Guns and other models are animated by something called joints. Joints *are* basically the skeleton of the model. They control how it moves and so forth.

Erm... Could you post a .ms3d with all the joints and stuff already added in, so i can see how they work, I really do not get half of these tutorials... and I only found 3. One was "Make a skeleton for a playerclass", another was "Make a Spaz 12 Shotgun(Promising, until i found out it was nothing to do with animation)" and ""Unreal TOurnament Weapon Modeling", but that had been took down :'(

Sorry for 2x post, but it's over the 24 hour limit :P

I done it :) I made an animated mesh :D ! ONly problem is, that when it's used in DX, it shoots and everything like it should, but all the mesh part i made myself isnt textured properly, it's just one shade of grey, instead of the texture that it should be. What have i done wrong?

Not being a 1337 ucscripter, I can only guess that you haven't told DX what skin to use...

Nope, that's not it. Made sure of that myself :) I've tried other colours of texture, and it only uses the top-left hand most pixel as the colour for that entire part of the mesh. The stuff like the cylinders and stuff i used MilkShape to make automatically is perfect, just the other part i made myself is screwed up...

Your MESH_DRAW function or texture is probably not working right. Check your import .uc for errors.

From what i can see, there is nothing wrong with the .uc for the mesh import :| It passes through the error checks in ucc make fine, and all that is wrong with it that i can see is it's at the wrong angle when used in-play, but i havent got round to that yet.

Should i post it all up here for you's guys?

Edit: ScreenShot of what i mean: the stuff that is textured is right (Obviously :P ), but what i'm trying to get at is how to rectify all the grey bit :S
