SDK Problem

I have a really weird problem and I was wondering if any of you could help. Basically, Im moving around in 3D view looking around my map, and suddenly the 3D view seems to go crazy and like zoom off into nothingness, and will not let me move anywhere within the 3D view and SDK then freezes. I don't know if anyone knows why this is or how to sort it out but if anyone does, I'd be more than grateful...

Are you sure you don't have the zoom-camera selected? (Sorry if it's obvious, I'm not trying to be rude - I make this mistake all the time :P)

No, Its the normal camera. I see what you mean though, its usually the stupidist most obvious thing...

Do you have a wireless or even an optical mouse?

I have a laser mouse, its not the mouse that does it, as I could be moving around the map at a snails pace and it would randomly do it. And then for some reason it decides to freeze up >_>

Trust me optical mouses do that no matter what speed your moving the mouse at.

Delete all the lights in the map, rebuild, and then tell me if it happens.

(back up your map)

I have the same problem with my optical (laser) mouse.

When I'm holding any of the mouse buttons down, navigating my creation, if my laser passes over an un-even part of the table the camera will shoot off into the distance.

Yeah but the thing is it then refuses to let me move it, then UEd just locks up.

@ Mainman, I dont put lights in to begin with anyway, I hate lights >_>

I used to get this problem a lot when I started mapping...

trust me, it aint a mouse problem...[A] are right, it is to do with lighting...

1. Are you being really careful?

2. Are you saving and rebuilding every time you edit anything with light?

3. Are you copying and pasting stuff, hope that wasn't rude to ask...

4. I just had to "end task" and open the map again, which if you have been saving every step, wont be a problem...

But since I dont copy from SP maps any more, problemo solved...

No, that is not needed.

I had this MANY times, and I still have it. I have it randomly, just when I make a map, where I made all things myself.

Just do step 4 of ShadowRunner, that always helped for me.
So save your map, and restart UnrealEd

Virtually everything I do in Unreal Ed I save, because it can get buggy and crash at any unstable time. Or Ion Storm and Eidos totally bugged out our version lol.

Epicgames have made SDK, not Ion Storm. And I doubt thats folks in Eidos even know what is UnrealEd1.

Beware of zones with lots of complicated brushes in - if your SDK crashes in that fashion, then only move around in textured or map persp mode - use dynamic lighting only when you have to, and save before and after every rebuild.

I have that problem in every map since I've started adding specific detailing to my MP maps - don't worry though, it becomes somewhat of a habit after a while, and saves you the frustration of having to do the map all over again... I think the crashing has something to do with movers, but I haven't given myself a chance to prove otherwise

Nope its to do with complex brush intersections. Always deintersect kids.

I said nothing about intersecting... simply having lots of complicated brushes in one place, I.E. vertexing, can cause that error

Wherever it's possible i prefer 2D editor to vertex editing just to avoid GPFs.

and DO NOT place vertexes at the location of another vertex, or it will crash immediately
