Maybe it's just me, but i think it's stupid to idolise someone in a game, and think; "wow, i want to be like him!" In real life, this is not sad , but when it comes to computer games, I think it's alright to look upto someone because of their character or attitude, but not because of their in-game skill.

Obviously you tend to like the better players rather than the ones that lose 0-40, but i think that the better players are also the more mature ones and aren't dickheads (RaidÃ©n is an exception), and vice-versa, the bad players are immature and/or stupid, and therefore no-one looks upto them.

Also I don't know any of you in real life so I'm assuming a lot of things. You may disagree with me, that's fair enough, i'll try to respect that.

When i was making this topic I've put the word "idol" into quotes because it's not really about idols in our normal comprehension, but about some individuals who we can orientate on in some specific sphere, which can be anything: job, education, sports etc. It's probably my mistake because I haven't managed to find a better English word, but as far as I can see everyone else have understood what I meant to say.
I used to have a lot of such "idols" in Deus Ex community, which I idolised only for gaming experience and nothing else, and I did not think in the way: "wow, i want to be like him!", i thought "wow, i want to play Deus Ex like him!" and i didn't know what kind of person my "idol" was and in most of cases I simply didn't care, because, as i said, I liked him only for his gaming experience.
