Nephthys' default settings block this attack and remove the fake players.

As long as the attack is originated by a single IP Nephthys will block only that IP (see manual: RJA (repetetive join attempt) attack).

If the attack is originated by many different IPs there's a principle problem to differ between friend and foe (see manual: DRJA (distributed repetetive join attempt) attack). With the default settings Nephthys then blocks all new join attempts until the attack is over. That means, all players currently connected can keep on playing almost without disturbance, but they can't reconnect, can't travel to next map and no new (real? or is it a fake again?) players can join. Of course, the server admin can alter these settings but then the server would get vulnerable (high lag or even crash).

If it's just some handful of originating IP addresses then block them all (Nephthys ban or way better: firewall/router ban).

If it's really many different IP addresses (please pm me a server log) then the best thing is to contact the abuse mail of your ISP. These attacks can't be handled by the victim alone. These attacks are criminal and it's also in the sense of the ISPs to stop those attacks (bandwidth issues, intentional abuse of their infrastructure).

Whiplash and I are the ones who started with the whole anti Godz rifle thing that NC threw such a fit about. We got banned from his server, and subsequently his message board, because we didn't like his rifle. Whiplash started it first, so he's ahead of me.

He also thinks we worked with Deja Vu to start the "anti-godz" thing. You see...in NoChanc's mind, if you're against something in Godz, you're against DX. Godz is DX. Simple, isn't it?

I tried to debate the rifle issue calmly with NC before I was banned he accused me of everything from not knowing what I was talking about to being childish and not doing my research and wanting to stop newbies from getting kills.

So I went off and polled each and every clan I could think of about their members views on the torso-kill rifle, each poll came back strongly against it and was accompanied by harsh comments from members.

That got NoobChance really annoyed, so then I finished the job by coming clean about my playing style: in GODZ I relied heavily on the InstaGib rifle for easy kills and stood to lose a good deal of ego from its removal, but I still felt it had to be done to restore balance to the game.

That essentially proved that NC was at best geniunely mistaken about me, at worst, a devious, scurrilous liar with no grip on reality. The only question then was which?

I was banned permanently within 12 hours of that post so as far as I'm concerned the above question was answered.

what regards the bots: ren server was under attack that lasted few hours not long ago. It lagged the server even after being banned. It was attacked from Poland and France according to ip trace but dejavu has claimed before that he has somewhat wide access to computers around the world to carry out such attacks, if im not mistaken...
we do have nephthys installed, i am uncertain of how its set up though.
