oh, mr black, you are so right!, the pepperspray is capable of not only blinding a player, but when i use it as a police officer in rpg's it is capable of killing somebody after about 2 seconds of exposure! that is the default pepperspray too! also what is underrated is hazmats, thermoptic camos and ballistic vests!

back to the gep, in augged servers, if you whine about being gepped, your being stupid XD thats what ADS is for! as for 0aug, it should not be there and neither should 20mm or plasma or lams or emp. in replacement, they should put a pepper spray and a knife (in DXMP the knife has a smaller length than DTS, but twice the damage!)

That IS the guide for DXMP, look it up for yourself, you'll see it isn't true what you're claiming. Only thing which is better about combat knife, is that it doesnt transmit a blue glow, slashes a bit faster and is a little bit easier to take out.

WeaponNanoSword
mpHitDamage=10
mpBaseAccuracy=1.000000
mpAccurateRange=150
mpMaxRange=150

WeaponCombatKnife
mpHitDamage=20
mpBaseAccuracy=1.000000
mpAccurateRange=96
mpMaxRange=96

WeaponPistol
mpReloadTime=2.000000
mpHitDamage=20
mpBaseAccuracy=0.200000
mpAccurateRange=1200
mpMaxRange=1200
mpReloadCount=9

The source of this is DeusEx\DeusEx\Classes\WeaponNanoSword.uc and DeusEx\DeusEx\Classes\WeaponCombatKnife.uc

To get these files, open up your sdk, select classes tab and export all. These are the default properties, remember to look for mpHitDamage and not HitDamage (which is the properties for single player) this shows that the only downside to the CombatKnife is that it is of shorter length than the NanoSword.

I have looked it up for myself :) and please do not ask if I made these numbers up myself, since I did not.

Combat Knife (100% damage)
Base Damage Level 1 Level 2 Level 3
Base Damage (Torso) 20 30 34 40

Dragon's Tooth Sword (100% damage)
Base Damage Level 1 Level 2 Level 3
Base Damage (Torso) (1 hit) 10 15 17 20

My source here is http://members.fortunecity.co.uk/dmv27/ ... p_wdg.html

Perhaps you would like to stab me with a combat knife from now on? ;)

Nope, I wouldn't.

You see, a slash with the DTS, consists of several "hits". Apparently, most of them usually hit, probably because it's a melee weapon, so it's from close up, kinda making it impossible to do only one out of five "hits", due to the short range between you and your foe.

I have yet to see someone slashing my head with the DTS for example, while he has level 3 lowtech skill, without me dying, for instance. Which shows that most of the time, it's 3 to 5 "hits" (if not 5 always). I know it's fucked up, but before you go call it a lie, try it out for yourself, you'll see that a DTS kills in one hit with level 3 lowtech skill, if it hits head. (if you're not lagging and ending up hacking way behind the actual place of the player, obviously.)

hmm, okay, why on earth does it do multiple hits, the animation does not show that and neither is there a sound making it obvious. This is very confusing. does a regular sword, such as the ones found in hong kong, do the same thing?

Yeah it's fucked up >_< The normal sword doesn't have that system I believe, though.

Hey Clix and Aquinas, thats very interesting...

A long time ago I fought Dae 2 v 1 on [A]Patres. I used DTS, he used Combat Knife and was streaking from a kill on the other player. Despite the length of the DTS and my aiming at his head, he was able to easily dispatch me with a combat knife.

Some people say DTS is a fluke wep, but I disagree, on "Close Quarters" tactics and agility really really make a difference, as does aim.

Although it only takes one inventory slot, I rarely carry pepper spray, as you say, if you play non-lethal it's actually much better to use that slot for Hazmat or Thermoptic. It is too easy to evade pepperspray and force the user to enter his own spray...

The only time I use pepper is when I have run out of Gas Grenades + Truncheon and have already run out of darts and prod, and can not avoid the coming confrontation...

As for GEP, well I'm sure someone said already, dead easy to snipe a gepper or use ADS...

I notice sometimes ADS fails and a player geps you and you are like WTF!

Well it was my own server where I had 0 ping + I was using combat strength. With that aug the only difference between these weapons is their aim distance, because both become lethal.

In fact, a hit by a dragon tooth to head is lethal, and a hit by a combat knife makes your head red.

well, dts can miss alot of its shot in this way, but the knife can still hurt with a guaranteed damage, if your going to use combat strength and max low tech, perhaps a knife is better since it is a guaranteed kill? this needs to be experimented with. also, can people start putting hazmats, thermoptics and ballistics in their maps? they add a very interesting side to the game, with or without augs.
