LAN is referring to a physical connection to other nodes on a network using the same like protocol, and using the same resources (usually)

i dont wanna go into the details, but LANs are usually relatively small, (max around 20 computers) and set up to share things like net connection and files and stuff

First, get two or more pc and hook them up via a FireWire cable and make sure they recognise each other.

Then make sure both comp's have the game installed then Lan games are possible
