Ok.... so I used to play this game a lot quite a few years back. I loved it, but the community got pretty small, and I stopped playing for a while. Some nostalgia kicked in today, and I decided to see if this game was alive at all. Lo and behold I found some forums around here, and see people are still posting. Is the original DXMP still around? I downloaded it off of the Transcend site I think it was.... but there were no servers up. If the game is still going is there additional content I need to download to connect to master server? If so I look forward to killing you all with a sniper rifle and pistol again

Hehe yeah servers are still about.
I expect you downloaded a third party version of DX that attempted to use it's on MasterServer, rather than GameSpy's one.

All is almost well, but i seem to be having some trouble. I set up Direct 3D, have a 528mb card, and the game is running like crap. With defaults i am getting 16 FPS. I upped the graphics in options and now stat fps says im getting over 1000 frames a second... game looks good, but my ping skyrocketed to over 1k also. not sure how ping has to do with graphics, but it seems to change depending on which rendering device i pick.

Change to
enhanced OpenGL.
If you still get too high FPS with the new renderer, open DeusEx.ini (in DeusEx/System) and set FrameRateLimit to, say, 60.

standard d3d works just as well, though it depends on machine, capping fps the way dae said will be the best bet i guess
and welcome back, though i should know you hexx says nothing to me.

thanks again for the tip, will have to give it a try later. I think I stopped playing when the end of the road for clan [AK] came about, I didn't use this name back then, and I'm from Midwest US.
