I got confused cos someone contacted me on MSN and said that a dutch guy was offering servers at 1 per slot... i could afford two servers for same price I'm paying now, and that would be an offer hard to refuse...

Only one server indeed. Mind you, someone can offer you a server, but you wont know how good the server actually is. Mine you can test.

Also, can it run under TR60?.....Finally...are the settings of the server updated to bandwith settings in 2005 - 2006 or do they still use the same GoTY settings from the multiplayer beta...(Yes, its a fact that most servers run under the settings of MTL on top of DeusEx Multiplayer Beta settings that were released in the GoTY edition. Anyone who was in the multiplayer beta in 2000 would agree with me)

I haven't met one person in this whole community who can make a better "overall" server than myself in balance between settings and hardware. (Lowest ping alone != best server). This is why there was a time when most server operators in this game came to me by AIM and MSN for help in one way or another and I was always glad to help.

The exact hardware of where the server is ran is not known.
But it's either a Quadcore Xeon or Dualcore Dual Opteron.

Tickrated may be changed to anything, I didn't change any bandwidth settings, so most likely, when tweaking, you can improve the performance. And you're right about that the lowest ping isn't the best server. In some servers I have 20 ping, but it feels crap compared to other servers. (Ok, crap is exaggerated, but still, it feels less 'smooth')
EDIT: Connection strength. It has a 1000mbit connection and placed in the We Dare network in Rotterdam.

Used to host a heavily modded server awhile ago. Trying to remember if it had completely new found augs or a new gametype, one or the other. Ran pretty damn smooth for an American server, had something like 100 ping there - considering I get like 200 per USA server that's quite good.

In regards to AK:

I'll clarify since im friendly ^_^.

In regards to Hardware:

I've played in 1gbps servers before. I tend to get ping so low (usually 15 and under) that it feels like a singleplayer game online. I played in a team deathmatch in UT III in a 1gbps server. THe server did not allow Dialup in that current server and my ping, along with everyone elses...I saw a list of 32 players , where the highest ping was 24 and the lowest ping was 6. I pinged 9.

Opterons and latest Xeons are intended for 64-bit OSes, but DX itself was made for single core operation. This means the only way to get better performance is to work with "single core" overall performance.

In regards to my Server:

ATDM (NE-USA) Server ^_^ is the name. The whole server has extreme settings, uses MTL151b1,MTL160, MiniMTL13, MiniMTL210, Nephtys (I dont know if Im supposed to remove MiniMTL13)...

The settings are so extreme that to achive what I want to do, I had to put the entire game in a RamDisk and set it to realtime priority settings.

My two environments to test have are
Windows 64 bit
Linux + Wine

And as for the hardware, I * think * each gameserver runs on it's own core. And I'm afraid you can't compare pings from other games with Deus Ex, as there's a big difference between 'ping' and how it 'feels'.

When connected to a server displays statistics once per tick.

i=20 cli=3 act=4.3 (640) net=2.3 pv/c=80 re p/c=0 rp c/c=0

i=Server tickrate, Cli= Number of Clients, act= Time spent on processing Actors (ms), (640) number of actors, net= Time spent on network processing (ms). Assuming a tickrate of 20, if act + net = 50 the server is running at 100% CPU utilization ( 1000ms / 20 = 50 ). If cli is greater than the number of players in the game the server most likely suffers from the win2k creeping ping bug. Note: INJECT USERFLAG 0 turns off output.

What processor? Processors have different ALU and FPU performance scaling per generation. Secondly, there is only one real place inside of a computer that has a millisecond response time in information....that is a hard drive itself. You can eliminate the millisecond and convert it to nanoseconds by throwing the whole server into a Ramdisk.

Im running extreme settings in my server right now, its located inside a Ramdisk of 3GB (I use ramdisk for a lot of things) set to realtime priority settings and to one core. It requires the nanosecond response time of Memory to do what I am trying to do with my settings.
