Deus Ex Alpha

Ok In a few weeks time, I will be purchasing a 10/12 slot server for the public. I Will be renewing it, depending on the success. Put I want a difrent gametype than Augs - 0 augs, and if it would be RPG, it would have to be a rare map. So does anyone have suggestions.

I would say DXSG but my old PC hates the added CPU/GPU stress.
Nobody's hosted any of the MultiDX gametypes in ages, could be a worthwhile experiment? If it all goes tits up you could always revert to something normal.

MultiDx was high on my list.

I'd ask around a bit first though, from my own experience with it, it tends to be a bit temperamental.

Bah, if it were RPG I'd probably play it lol. I dunno why, but I prefer RPG over all other gametypes. That's just me I guess, I'm not into much MP gaming (excluding MMOs) because people love to go psycho over such trivial things.

Silly question maybe - but why does dxalpha forum seem to be full of people who don't play dx and don't do a lot of gaming, just more talking about it??

RPG is full of Telnet-types going "CAN I HAS ADMIN" etc etc

both DXAG and DXSG are hosted already by FGS, I don't think that server list needs one more, considering that they are rarely played.
I'd be happy to see MMCity again but I have no idea how it would be possible to host it.

Plain old DXMP zero aug is the way to go........ YOU KNOWS IT!

Haha.. when I first talked to Deathmaster, I wondered why I got him in my list for ages already too.

DXMP cannot properly keep RTKM busy as it is, the current flagship of 0augs. Most of the custom maps take its toll on the player numbers, because nobody wants to play on them, but regardless DXMP currently needs only one 0aug server. Thats what it needs. One could host 100 0aug servers though for all I care. Sometimes you just have to consider whether or not your money is being spent on right things, or if its flushed down the toilet.

AltFire is doing well under FGS hosting, I think.

ATDM scene is really thin because although we have one server (by your clan Tom ) it is absolutely horrible in performance. I personally cant practically play there. 30% packetloss on average on some days, other days at least 10%.. ping jumping from floor to ceiling.. basically, were all very happy its there, but it fucking sucks.

I dont think any other game types are worth hosting if you look at the quality at which they are brought to you, or the potential number of players. But thats just my opinion.

Yeah but c'mon they suck lol. Well they probably don't, but I only play on UK servers due to ping issues.

That would be good idea, but everyone seems to get anoyed with Area51.
