As many people that had said Deus Ex was dead, i couldn't believe it until I went online and saw 2 people online, as saddened as I was I checked Aaron's videos and noticed him mentioning DXAlpha Forums. I am just happy to see a Deus Ex community after a long while of not having any contact to them. Thank you God for a wonderful game and a community filled with players. If anyone still has DXMP mods, or ini's could you send them to me over MSN? I am thinking of buying this game off steam, my computer had to be sent to the manufacturer and they decided to input a new harddrive and keep the old one, nevertheless i will find a way to host/play Deus Ex with you.

Hi there,
Unfortunately, Alpha says they have died.
If you will, type in slimline into the search button and you'll find numerous links to Dae's slimline dx or Sike's full GOTY edition free for download.

We left yup, although we still support DXMP (to an extent), and if you have any problems we'll try to help. You can browse the
Alpha labs for some of the mods Alpha made,
http://www.download.dxalpha.com/ for like everything else!

There are times when 2 dxmp servers are simultaneously almost full, considering how during the past years filling even one server has been something of an accomplishment I wouldnt say that its any more dead than year before, or three for that matter. Skill level has however seen a ridiculous drop, but as long as there are players..

Welcome!
Please enjoy your stay, dxalpha is one of the last barely sane refuges of DX:MP
Deus Ex is quite a unique example of a game impacting on a community, probably why people stick around because its interesting compared to say Counter Strike community.

I like to think these forums are still a decent all-round Deus Ex community.
Welcome to hell, enjoy your stay.

Enjoy your stay here sir. I think it's an interesting community because it's smaller, and we know each other alot better than say playing with hundreds of different random people a day.

@ Sasquatch
I'd be willing to host another tournament. But there would have to be at least 16 people who sign up and contribute $3 each to the prize fund. I figure if people don't pay anything, they won't even bother to show up like last time.

If people have to pay that may not bother showing up either.

I appreciate the enthusiasm, and would be happy to support this if it actually kicked off.
But I know how hard it is to get people who are actually willing to contribute. I contributed to a failed tournament on Guild Wars, where people were even unwilling to part with their in-game currency.

I had to torrent DX to actually play it. I feel bad for torrenting but now i need a CD path change, i know people say just delete it after the "=" but that doesnt fix it Deus Ex says "This application has failed to start because Window.dll was not found. Re-Installing the application may fix this problem." any help? Any links to free full downloads w/out torrenting (i hate it <---)

hey, I got Dae's endorsement!
Since the last tournament was fighting, I was thinking of organizing a tournament for modders. But we'll see, I'll try to get my forums back up,
lol @ protocol.
Ok, lets get some ideas. And about 12 more people interested.
1. Last tournament I hosted, had three gametypes, 0-Augs, BTDM, and Nobody's alt-fire. I think we should combine those elements.
2. 4 teams is simple enough. Winners play losers, 3 matches total.
3. I don't have my servers anymore, we could use a server for 0-aug, hasharin has a good aug server, and maybe Nobody can let us use Alt-fire server again.
Prize will be $100 again. Split /4= $25 per person on the winning team. Its not much, but its something.
One last thing: most people had objected to being on teams with weaker players after I had evened the teams out. Anyone have a solution for this?

If people are paying than allow teams to be contructed by themselves

But then you have a good idea of who is going to win the tournament automatically.
I say let everyone pair up with one other person, each pair is mixed up and joined with another pair. If two teams decide they don't like their pair they can swap the pair in their team with the other team's.
That way you get semi-fair teams.

Id pay it, id play it, but your tournament rules and system needs some careful thinking. The one Imperial tried to pull off had me, clixor and cyrus and maybe some others rattling our brain cells for it to have proper rules and set up. Might as well discuss it here. If you want to do a random tournament quickly just because you could say you made one then dont worry, i can host tournament server for you with my umm 20kb upload or something.

Comparing DX to CS, that would make DJ look like Freud.
No offense.

CS' gameplay is pretty much the same as 0-aug and the whole money award thing I slate is the pretty much the same as ATDM's skill and aug upgrades, but really!
DXMP and CS are a lot more similar than you could ever imagine.
