ive managed to get this proccess running at my unversity, so it has 100mbit line and its on intel celeron 2.8ghz cpu with 512 mb ram. with some tweaked settings (thanks to myang), ive managed to lower ping to all players for 10ms.

so, i have real ping 20ms to the server, and 40ms in the game.

i just hope, they wont turn off the pc, however if they do it, on monday, ill sort even that out smiley.gif

for now, server is 10 slots and ATDM is on, with maps towers, smuggles, damnationalley and smuggles2_revisited.

I went on it before. its a pretty damn good server.

Why the server clearing map rotation

the server is still in testing period. i was like 90% sure it would go down sooner or later, cos the ppl there at university would shut down PCs. but its 20:00 o clock now and the server is still up, so i guess they aint shutting down PCs on monday ill sort some stuff out, like enable download for all maps, and also sort out the map list.

Good idea. Hog the universities bandwidth.

My mistake. I thought you were getting that one for free. But I also thought it was meant to be cheaper, at the time I remember you saying it was cheaper or the same as GM servers.

yeah, to get just dx server, but if you want whole box (whats the best for dx), you cant get it under 80â?¬ anywhere.

now since MSL is messed (+gamesmajor has geps in 0aug), you might have interest into that:

The oldschool 0aug server has major lag =/

check route to it. prolly its just bad route from your provider to arnes.si

Probably the same thing that seems to make you think the GM servers suck, while plenty of others think its fine?!


On a similar note. I could actually make GM better if I had wanted to. One of the partners of the company was leaving and they asked me to take over. I turned it down being as I want to be putting all my time towards DCSB in Dystopia.

no way, my cmd ping to that server is constant 55ms with no packet loss
