Deus Ex Alpha

I'm in the proccesses of nuking my current server setup and I'll be putting a better one in place, which will give me the chance to host a DXMP server in the pacific region.

I'm not too interested in "how many here will play it", but rather, which mods/packages would be best for a 0-aug server. So far on my shopping list is DXMTL. If you can link to packages that will be helpful, please do.

This is purely to give the pacific region a server, so keep that in mind before posting.

Well pretty much any mod can be found at Set's site in the download center.

DXMTL152b1 + DXIPServer + CRD (or new MiniMTL) + DXMapVote + some of my mutators if you want.

There you have a good point...

See, the problem in DXMP is, everybody's promoting people to keep hosting augs, even when most servers are augs and about 1-2 are zero augs. DX augs is not neccesarily bringing back the spirit of DX if nobody's playing in it.

So yeah, go host whatever you want, let your own conscious decide, not people who want augs to completely take over DX.

agreed, way too many empty aug servers, why cant there just be ONE of each 24/7? I know everyone wants too be an admin so they can abuse it but boo hoo, DXMP is too flooded with empty servers period

My reason for not having augs is simple; 0-augs are easier for new people to grasp. If I'm going to recruit Pacific players, it'd be easier to get them hooked on 0-aug, and then give them the option to play augs. Augs scare most people, speshly when most (good)auggers have binds no newbies could ever dream of.

Do you happen to have a nice linkage to the mentioned packages? >.>

The server will start of a small 8 player server, DM, 0-augs, max skills, and very few downloads, with custom maps being added if needed/wanted at a later stage.

Teh server is up.

It's hosted off my machine, but only because I'm moving in two weeks, so I'll get it onto the dedicated server then.

Tell me if any thing needs changing.

Btw; I was thinking.... anyone in DX erver played a No-Sniper server before?

I hosted something like that, but the sniper rifles exploded and killed the users and anything within 128 Unreal-units distance, instead of not being existance. It was hilarious XD

I've been getting them pretty constantly. =/

This is the only thing google turns up, which appears to talk about a stats gathering script... I think. (I don't speak German, and google speaks German badly)

They've been hitting the server about once every 10 seconds. Which is not a huge thing, but the resources could be put else where...

Edit: Well at least it isn't slowing the server down, got 4 people in already. =o

I've been getting a lot of those lately too! Every time I leave my server (Which I host on Dedicated mode), I get about 12 of those, and then everyone on the server times out. It's a right drag!

Yea, I get this too. I thought they appeared after installing MMAntiTK =/
