Note: This is my story, not the story of Deus Ex.
----------------------------
Single player Days:
The year was 2000, I was 10. My parents had just got a new computer, AMD Athlon @ 1.4ghz, Nvidia GeForce MX440, 512mb RAM and a 40 gig HD. I still play on this, although it has been slightly modified since 2000. It was a hummer back then, isn't now though.
Anyway, one fine day, a good personal friend gave me a demo disc that he had obtained from a magazine earlier. I played every game on it except Deus Ex, it looked much to Sci-fi for me. But one day i was so bored, I decided to install it, and what a surprise I got. I loved it, I played Liberty island over and over again.
I kept playing it until one day in mid/late 2000, I went to a gaming shop and saw it glaring back at me. I had to have it, no matter if it was a ridiculous price back then. I spent every penny I had on it, bought it home and played Single player a few times. Multiple weeks later, I found a multiplayer for this game and downloaded it overnight as I had 56k.
----------------------------
Early Multiplayer:
First time I entered a server, I grabbed a GEP and whatever else. Ran out of the spawn and got slaughtered by some NSF fellow. I played all day, I didn't know what too do at I didn't understand ping or anything, I saw people running round with letters in brackets on their name and couldn't quite figure out why that was. This was probably just after I had turned 11.
However, I do remember my first kill, map was Smuggler, weapon was crossbow, game was augged. After this I was hooked, I played Night and Day, looking for more kills, and slowly they started coming.
I slowly learnt about augs, but only the very basics. I didn't yet have binds, not many people did in these days. But these days are an absolute blur to me, I can't remember what happened. At all, except small details.
I was never guilty of the Player alias, as my immature 11 year old mind seemed to find a very fitting one; IHaveABigDick.
----------------------------
The Days Of IHaveABigDick:
These are the days I started to learn about clans, ping etc. I was a 56k young-en from New Zealand. I don't remember alot from this era of DX either, but here it is to the best of my memory. Dates may be very mixed up.
I went till about early 2001 without knowing clans, pings or anything when I met a guy called LionHeart who educated me, explained clans, pings and most things in DX. He also told me (D12) was the best clan, I wanted to join so badly.
I remember this day well. I had just returned from school with a mate and switched on Deus Ex to find a (D12) server up, great, I thought. I went in and demanded a trial. I got it, and I got in. I wore the tag with pride, because in my mind, I was in the best clan.
This was all fair, until I met a guy called {DWK}GreySeraph, who would later become [DK], [AK], [I] and [DCSB] Seraph. I left (D12) and got a trial with {DWK}, however,, I was told I must change my name if I want to be in this clan. Thus I became {DWK}Sam, I was their second ever recruit, I was so pleased. LionHeart later joined as-well, Nemo, Elf and Seraph were already their heading it up.
----------------------------
The {DWK}Sam, [KC]Cake and [BK]Realm Era:
A month or two later, I met a guy named DestroyerZero. I was amazed by this guys skill. He mentioned a clan he had made called [AK]. I jumped at the chance to join, only, I was in {DWK}. I joined anyway, under the name [AK]KaW which meant Kick Ass Warrior. I was one of [AK]s first recruits, PreventerWind was also there at the time. I stayed in {DWK} for a long time, eventually ending about a few months later whilst me being in many other clans.
Anyway, time passed, [AK] went down. I had left {DWK} and was now clan-less. By this stage, I had just started my own clan, called [KC]. I was [KC]Cake and I had about 20 odd members.
One time, I was playing when a Guy called KillIT entered, he owned me. I asked him to join [KC] and he agreed. I was amazed by his talent and played in the [TCN] Server with him. If I remember correctly, we were playing [TCN]Goku. I went about 2-30 and he went about 30-2. He told me after a while he may have to leave [KC] and join [TCN] or [BK]. I told him [KC] was much better, he just agreed.
However, I didn't hear from this 'KillIT' character for many months, when I found out he was [3] Monkee. I started to watch the [3] forums like a bird and I even think I challenged on of them to a 1v1 at one point.
But I looked into these clans that Monkee had told me about, and found them very fascinating. Thier talent and respect at the time I thought was great, still nothing like I had seen from [DEA] or [3] members, but awesome none the less. I was intrigued, I started to pick up more on augged game-play and with the help of a few oldies I managed to become OK. I applied for both clans, using names 'Bad' for [TCN] and I used 'Realm' for [BK]. I got a chance at [BK] and somehow fluked the trial to be accepted.
[BK] was great, however, my stay was temporary after learning about [I]. I became an inactive member of [BK] and applied for [I] under 'TheCloner'. My joining topic ended up getting over 200 replies. Mostly saying I was [A]Rumpfy trying to join, people said I told them that I was. I had no clue, but the only people that backed me were [TCN], a few months later [I]Shogun emailed me asking me to trial. I told him where to stick it, they treated me like shit.
----------------------------
The Sacred Era:
After awhile, I learnt about another clan called [N/A]. I joined up to their forums as Sacred, and that became my name. I loved their style and attitude, they were the best guys you could surround yourself in. I made a clan after them called [2g] which stood for [2G]ether.
Late one night, I saw a person aliasing under 'Me' on a euro server. She was former [TCN]Hezza, I offered her a position at [DS], she obliged.
I had a few members and kept it a tight knit clan, until we decided to rename the clan to become [SS] Soul Snatchers. I quickly changed this to name [DS], [D]ivine [S]ouls. A few [UG]s and some newbs as-well, this clan later became inactive but lasted a many months. It was a great time.
----------------------------
The Era of [BK] v2:
Months flew, I don't know when this was. After awhile, my favorite clan [N/A] died. [AK] eventually returned and I joined. Whilst this was happening, I got talking to [BK]DrDeath and he said that [BK] may be making a revival. I jumped at the chance and offered to help, he gave me a co-leader position as we attempted to rock the DX world. [BK] started off awful, DrDeath eventually going inactive. I pulled it back on track, and [DA] eventually dis-banded and came to [BK].
We flew from there, [AK] never knew I was in new [BK] and neither did [BK]. We beat [AK] in a clanwar, we played together alot until eventually, we broke it off.
I think the old BK v2 website can still be visited at:
http://www.freewebs.com/blitzkriegdx/blitz.htm
After [BK] returned to being only an [AK] member and changed my name too [AK]Hybrid, the way it has now stayed for many years.
----------------------------
The Era of the Asshole:
This is by far my darkest era.
By this stage, I remembered a clan called [R], and decided it'd be fun to bring it back from the dead, posing as a former member [R]Merc. This is probably the biggest mistake I had ever made in Deus Ex.
I contacted former Leader, [R]Ancestor. Told him who I was till he eventually believed me, he resurrected the site and we were underway. Several good members joined us, former [I]s, [3]s, [R]s and many many more. We had a huge dispute against the second [I]mmortal generation and challenged them to war which the whole community followed on the DXC forums. Just before the war however, I was found out, [R] was ended.
However, I wasn't done there. I decided to impersonate one FireRunner and rejoin [DK]. I soon left that and a clan called [ALPHA] came along, I joined under the name FireRunner and helped the clan abit with Dae until I eventually was found out and disappeared in the night. I was the first member of [A] and persuaded AussieFella into leaving [AK] and joining as a mapper.
Supposedly Dae had tried many times to find me, but couldn't.
This clan would later become [A]lpha.
After this era, alot of people in DX hated me, mainly because of my impersonating stunts.
----------------------------
The era of Hybrid:
I went back to [AK] again under Hybrid and stayed true to them till eventually it disbanded sometime in 2004. Due to reasons/problems with the leader, DestroyerZero.
A few months later, I started another clan, [dT] and we eventually all merged into Predators clan, [DES]. I was appointed a good position but I left almost straight away. I can't remember why, maybe to join another clan. [DES] became a really good clan, with really good members. I decided to re-joined [DES] as a member but finally it became inactive and we dis-banded.
After this, I became very inactive in DXMP, only playing once a week or so.
Finally, In late 2005 I returned to DX with 2mb DSL, I practiced and became much improved, I re-applied for [A] and was accepted. A clan I was once in and only recently told Dae about that part of my past.
Whilst in [A], several members from Augged clans around DX joined to make [3R], The Third Reich. A clan mostly nazi based, however, we didn't mean it. The community found this very insulting, despite our skill. I finally dropped this and DX to return to studies.
I remained in [A] for most of 2006 until shortly after my return, I decided it wasn't the clan for me anymore, due to my hunger for more augging. I served over 375 days in [A], and it was one of the funnest clan I have ever been in. Maybe not so much in the end. I joined [EL] shortly after and have been there since. Auschwitz and I have recently closed down [3R]s big brother, [4R]. Which was also a very successful clan.
Lately, as far as 2007 goes, I have been dwelling on [EL] server with Cataclzym[A], Sike and Frost. I don't mind the odd rifle, but soon all that will come to end.
DXMP seems to be in OK shape, no different from two years ago.
----------------------------
The end of Hybrid:
As of February 1st 2007, I will be giving up the game for good as greater things call, like my future, and I will simply have no time or even a connection for Deus Ex anymore. I'm moving to the city to start my training in culinary arts (professional cheffing) in one of the top cheffing schools in New Zealand in February, and I have to put that over everything else in my life.

Thanks for reading my story and thanks to everyone involved in DXMP for the most amazing 6 years, it's been a ride. Keep it rocking.
