Connect to a server through a url[Not working presently]

Although a tool has been there, that has allowed you to do this for ages now, I feel not enough people know about it, it will come useful to you.

Below I will list ips( In a Hyperlink format) of servers, that can be reached through clicking on the Hyperlink so long as you have the tool(Attached) Installed. Please note that if you don't download and install the file( double clicking on it is all you need to do, no install setups, quick and easy) the following Hyperlinks will NOT work

Also Note: If you click on one of the Hyperlinks below and it doesn't load, and you have the dxmp-Url_164 installed, then it is most likely the server is offline.

If you want your server to be listed below, please reply in this thread, or alternativiely email me. I will setup an individual hotmail account just for this later on.

Current Servers:

Sunny Side Online [5] 0Augged

Elites and Legendary Members [EL] Online [4] Augged

=OGIs= Gaming Experience
Online [4] 0augged

[T]ranscendation by Xsessive @ Texas Onine [5] Augged

GamingDeluxe.co.uk Public
Online [5] Augged

Scale of Reliablty- 1: Usually not online
2: Online now and then
3: Online for a long period
4: Very Reliable, almost always on
5: Always on/ 99% of the time online

Finally please remember, just because you can't see tsome of these servers on the Gamespy MS All the time, doesn't neccesarily mean they are not online, thus the point of the scale of reliability.

Update: The url(although typed correctly, doesn't seem to be working for me, registry installed and all)

If anyone clicks on Sunny or any other server listed above and it brings them in, please tell me here.

For the moment this isn't working..

This won't ever work since the IP changes regularly (dynamic IP).

How? It's being a bitch for me..
What exactly did you do? Just click on the link?

Edit:

The webpage cannot be displayed

Most likely cause:
Some content or files on this webpage require a program that you don't have installed.

What you can try:
Search online for a program you can use to view this web content.

Retype the address.

Go back to the previous page.

Any results?

Can anyone as well as Kaiden access it through the hyperlink or is it comign up with that message I described in my previous post?

Try my server, actually, don't, i think it's ip is being attacked, so please try El, or an augged server. Gamingdeluxe perhaps.

Not sunnydie, seeing if it is Dynamic

Pancakes, the dxmp protocol only works on certain releases of the game - the cheap £5 one you can get hold of will do the trick - mine came from an online download that I'd paid for, and as a result it has different directories, and the protocol doesn't work.

hhm, well I have got the sold out version, is there anyway someone can release a new version to be compatible with the others?

What version would be the cheap £5 one :S lol
How about Deus EX: GOTY Edition?

I was referring to the sold out version, yes - perhaps trying to get hold of a latr version of the protocol than v1.64?

From what I can find, there was only one versions.

The one in this thread is the one you uploaded on FGS

My experience of it is that it would work with some installs of the game, and not with others - both versions I tested were GOTY edition.

how odd.

Would it take much to make it compatible, with most/all versions?

Hmm..

I also clicked on the link through FireFox if that helps?

And yes, I clicked on the links above^^. I also have the SoldOut version.

Don't forget: Bowen's Server (I'd put this at about a 4, or a 5, even though it's never populated :( )

Allan does this work for you?

Guys I really need feedback, please

Please tell me if it did work for you, both which version you used as well as this:

Are you using the no cd path bug in the deusex.ini( whether this really is a bug or not is beside the point, it's not relevant anyway)

well, I make no guarantee that the URL mod is going to necessarily help completely, but I'll see exactly what's going on with the community and if need be, get the URL mod to work

this may work yet :)

The above was my response to Imperial when he/she mentioned that 'DXMP-URL 0.2' [I'm not sure where this 1.64 is coming from..] of mine was not working for his/her as apparently, a few of you as well. It was also a response toward the possibility of the tool/mod (when working correctly) in helping this community in the event of a MasterServer failing to display all current server[s], but of course the decision to use it is yours to make.

With that said, for those of you who's DX copy is not connecting to the desired server after you had run the appropriate .reg file and had tried the connect command in this format 'deusex://ipaddress/' . Please let me know where your DX installation is located (where DeusEx.exe eventually would be).

Neither one works

Ok, well I also downloaded a file a while ago from {P} forums which did a similar thing. They have a link at the top of there forums which sends you to there server if you have a certain mod installed.. Perhaps that mod is what allows me to click your links?
Well lets test;

Please download this mod then try clicking on the above links again. Thanks.

Edit: Erg, is this what MainMan posted? This version is 2.0 so I'll leave it up anyway.

Didn't see your post, heh

Target file:

"C:\Program Files\DeusEx (SlimLine)\System\DeusEx.exe"

:)

If it doesn't work for you, do the following:

1. Find the relevant version (98 or XP)
2. Change the .reg extension to .txt and open with notepad.
3. Find the default DeusEx.exe location and change it to the one on your copy of Deus Ex.
4. Save the file and close it.
5. Change the extension back to .reg and run it.
