I asked them if they were aware of STEAM releasing it and other versions now being available for free etc and that there was an influx of new players.

I also asked them if their withdrawal of support was related to any problem with the existing DX community and if not, if they would tell me why...

So where on earth do I go now? Can anyone recommend me a good one?

Thanks

Can anyone recommend me a good one?

You need a hoster that does UT GOTY (there are hundreds of), then write a letter to them saying that DX runs like UT (and keep quiet that DX has no port to Linux ;))
If it's a small company you may emphasize that all the servers in the community are hosted by players, because no companies support Deus Ex, and they could actually become a monopolist.

The most cheapest hosters are either small companies or random dudes who'd like to earn some pocket money. Dejavu says that German hosters offer the cheapest servers, however I haven't managed to find any decent provider, maybe because I didn't try hard.

Gamesmajor is quite pricy after all.

Meh.. I found this out a while ago.. I didn't think it necessary to tell people though, because no-one was trying/hosting GM servers at the time.. The email said something like..
..Ok, hotmail hates me atm, so I'll post it later.

I did. ^_^. OGI Gaming right?

Also.. You weren't hosting at that time, your trial had ran out and you decided to wait untill the attacks stopped.

I guess "free mp" is a demo + dxmp patch combined into one. It doesn't work for hosting, though.
