Engine?

This topic will be shut down as soon as we find a cited source, until then we discuss the most suitable engine for the game.
I'd say the Unreal Engine 3, I know they've used the previous two in the past but this is a absolutely fabulous engine. Games such as Rainbow Six: Vegas series Bioshock, GoW, Mass Effect (VERY DX like), Stranglehold and the upcoming UT3 use it. The effects are absolutely astonishing.

The problem is, will Unreal Engine 3 remain fabulous in 2010, when the game is released?

Of course, the engine doesn't mean the graphics will be any different. And modification will give them their needs.

Yeah, I hope they still use Unreal lol.

Guys from Epic games said that UE3 will be actual till 2010 (and around 2009 they will start making the fourth one). Looks like no one has used all of it's potential yet, maybe because of lack of suitable hardware.

Yup, their engines normally last 4 years.

Deus Ex is suitable lol. Or, it better be.

What about UE4? - if it gets released by then, but I doubt it since the Deus Ex 3 is in development and UE4 isn't released yet
I agree, it must be UE3, but maybe they will "heavly modify" it like the first Deus Ex.

UE4 won't be made til 2010 itself or 2011, I prefer it to be released in UE3's golden age with enough experience to use it.

I would rather for them to create their own engine, also non-expirienced mappers could learn and be pro?

It'd be harder for a non-experienced player to become mappers if they create their own engine. Especially, if they do not release an SDK for it.

Still I reckon they should.

Very suspicious of that game...it may be a rip-off.

Its more of a KOTOR ripoff, because they made KOTOR and both games are very similar.
KOTOR is similar to DX as well, very similar.

Jeez Jay, you must be splooging for DX3, you haven't said a random thing yet! lol

Seeing they want to make an AAA title within 2 years (according to the interview for Gamasutra), they will definitely use an existing one. I only hope it won't be some another in-house experimental engine, like the one used for Snowblind.

I'm taking a professional approach to the game for the time being, I want to erase wrong ideas and influence Eidos if they ever browse to what the fans of the series seek to find in their game.

I wonder how the cover of the game will be?

Epic I hope.
Actually, I seem to be worried sick about this game. With all of the information from the trailer, it could be a Da Vinci Code type story. That's the absolute worst thing that could happen.

It has to have a man in front with the backdrop of a city and a flying object.

Remake of DX1 FTW.

Would you play a rehash rather than a sequel/prequel?

Yes, actually I would. Because I KNOW it'd be good. As long as NOTHING was changed just graphics and possibly engine, then yeah. I would.

I would also. It's the main reason I went out and bought UT2k4 for the Deus Ex Reborn mod. There still are many out there that never heard of Deus Ex.

I wouldn't play a rehash or a prequel.

If DX3 leaves a good mark on gamers, and is a prequel, wouldn't that lead more fans into the series?

There is a lot I'd like to know about the history of DX, but really in the end, only Warren Spector really knows.

We should continue this in the speculation thread.
