We were even going to mix in religion with the first game. A lot of people don't know this but J.C. Denton was supposed to be a descendant of Jesus Christ. We were going to pick up the old theory that Jesus had kids and that J.C. Denton had DNA from Jesus. When you mix those elements around you come up with these recurring patterns.

It isnt as much about taking something literally rather than considering the setting, the context. I think the Jesus Christ Denton is really poor argument. What an odd time to shout the full name of someone that may well put a bullet through your head for betrayal.
At the same time I find the stated meaning of J.C very likely. Game devs can do whatever they want and for me jesus christ is exactly what J.C stood for, no matter how silly it may seem.

I've never played IW - am I missing out on anything particularly interesting? My plan is to upgrade my pc then go out and buy it before playing DX3. Gonna re-play DX, too. So far only done it on Easy with all cheats lol. My excuse was to "enjoy the story not the fighting".
