Possibility of seeing vehicles/ operations of big machinery in DX3?

I think some vehicles would be really cool for the next game, what vehicles would you like to see if it happened?

If there were any they would most likely be futuristic ones

I personally would be satisfied with a pickup and some commercial cars.

Whell DX is based on the future, so I would like to see some futureistic state of the art cars :D

It's not that far in the future. Cars won't float, and the world won't be a wasteland. It's more likely that the world will look more or less exactly as it is now, just slightly shinier.

As such, I'd like to have a bit of a car chase.

Some cars can actually float these days

I could see some cars that are drivable coming in to the game yes, depends what the Deus Ex 3 team wants really.

Just no UTish vehicles with guns on them it would ruin everything.

I'd prefer not to use any vehicle in a game like DX.

Same. It's just not DX. Most of the game is indoors, in vents or on roofs. And on MP would people focus on vehicles rather then augs maybe?

Edit: 1000th Post. :]

You win cozmo. Cars probably should be added to the single player not the multiplayer.

Yep. Vehicles don't fit Deus Ex gameplay.

You can't know... perhaps you would love it just as well as controlling harriers in San Andreas. Non of the previous GTA games had such airplanes to controll and still you love them. (if u play(ed) San Andreas, anyway, it was just an example)

I think vehicles would ruin the gameplay. Deus Ex was great because it was so detailed. You could go back to the same area multiple times to follow different aspects of the story. Each time there would be different newspaper articles, conversations, inventory, modes of entry etc. With vehicles you would miss out on all that. Instead of spending time creating a detailed, intriguing world, the developers would have to create a large, uninteresting world. Besides which, most vehicle levels turn out to be pretty crap anyway. It's a good way to show off the scenery, but generally it is just a distraction from the gameplay.

Regarding the GTA series, I was so impressed with San Andreas that I wouldn't bother going back to the older games. The developers improved on the previous games in every way, which I thought were great anyway. I'm looking forward to seeing what they will do with GTA 4.

I actually agree with him.

Vehicles could ruin a lot of Deus Ex, and take the originality away from it.

Depending on how it was done, vehicles could actually be a good thing. With the technology available these days the maps won't be little two-blocks wide things like DX1.

I wouldn't be surprised if we could access complete cities without having to go through load zones. Now going inside buildings would need a loading point of course, but if the areas turn out to be big then vehicles could be a fun (and non-speed aug necessary) way to get around.

Some people would rather the developers stick to the old Deus Ex game style, but you have to think about the fact that the studio wouldn't make money if only the people that liked the first game bought this one. Having a full city without vehicles would be a little silly to be honest.

There are ways around it,like having your character 'locked out' of vehicles. It could be explained away fairly easily. Say the new security feature in future vehicles is an AI construct that verifies the driver/owners ID. If your character isn't able to provide the information then you can't use it. So,you keep the illusion that there are vehicles around, but you cannot use one yourself.

Maybe a law was passed prohibiting people with augmentations from piloting any form of vehicle. The government could be afraid of possible side-effects the bioaugs could have. So,this could effectively solve that.

On the other mechanically upgraded hand, vehicles could be integrated into the game very easily. Just because the game used an Unreal engine before, doesn't mean its restricted to it still. UT had vehicles, and I haven't heard any complaints about them other than "they have mounted guns". Keeping in mind that they're using the Tomb Raider engine (I think) so it might be impossible to code at all. I've never played a game using it,so I've no clue on its limitations.

Whichever crowd you belong to, be it the pro-vehicle or anti-vehicle one it'll make at least somebody angry whatever approach they take. Nothing they can do about that I suppose. Except add a remove cars option at the beginning of a new file. Perhaps they could have a group selected at random to do closed beta testing? A demo for download to test the game with vehicles in,to see if they fit the type of gameplay they're offering?

I've no clue on what they'll choose to do. Whatever it is I,myself, am going to support it. Its not like they had to make this game. The fact that they are trying at all, despite the disgruntled DX community is good enough for me. Anyways,my rant is over. :D

I think if it was made purely an option, like taking the direct route instead of using a vent, then fine.

There would be more enemies in the street, though >.>
