DX: 2027 Alpha v03 PRIVATE version released

PostPosted: Tue Oct 05, 04 6:38 pm

The mod is almost done. I'm now downloading the release of its Alpha V03 version - the last beta before its release. Downloading takes long (i get 40 kb a second speed from PlanetDeusEx.ru server, thats very nice for my connection, but still takes time). The mod, in .rar (!) format takes 119 megabytes, even bigger than RedSun.
In this release Ded didn't include weapon animations (we're working on it, thats hard, but i think, models in 2027 will be much more interesting than Cassandra's or other mod's) and most of conversations. With all these stuff, the mod's size will be about 160 mb in ZIP - imho (better ask Ded).
Anyway, this release of the mod is devided into 10 megabyte parts (.rar archive parts) so its easier to live for dial up'ers.
I'll post some more information with screenshots soon in this topic.
Dae.

Could I test it? I've tested Redsun 2020 and found some bugs(how to keep getting skill points etc)

I think that final version will be at least 200mb, because:
1) There will be much more conversation_audio.
2) There will be much more maps, textures, sounds and models.
3) There will be new music files.
4) There probably will be a final version of Resurrection add-on.

Probably with 7-zip archiver it will be smaller, but it seems it can be only in single file.

For max compression 7zip need ~1900Mb of RAM :o

I really don't think that it's possible to beat the quality of someone's models when you aren't using the same guns...

Its like to say (about maps here): "its impossible to beat quality of Jazz'sPoolParty when we're not using it". So, by your opinion, we can't say that DXMP_Condemned, DXMP_Towers, DXMP_Redemption and other maps are much more qualitative and professional than this nuby box map... cool

DXMP_Towers
Eeeek! ... sorry

No, now you're twisting my words. A 2 poly pistol is obviously worse than a 5000 poly MP5, but when you get into DX quality meshes (i.e. not very high poly) there is little or no difference between mod-quality meshes. Granted, you have a good modeler, but so does TCP.

*gets a boner from models* very nice! High-quality stuff! Good for DX quality. I would say they are almost, if not, retail quality. TCP's are just as good though.

Jazz'sPoolParty a nubby box map? I'd say a well designed map.

These are not my models, but they were done in 3D Max. Personally I use Milkshape3D (for all non-weapon models and creating animations).

I was wondering if we were any closer to a release date for 2027 or Resurrection? Also with the former, I understand you're going to divide it up for ease of downloading, I wonder if you could also put the whole thing for one download, as those with relatively good broadband wouldn't mind downloading a 200mb package.
Tahnks for all your hard work on this mod, the screens look great!

Release date depends on how much free time I will have. Right now I'm studying at university, so I don't really have much time for 2027. The current release date is Q1 2005. Resurrection will be released one month before 2027.

My internet connection is pretty expensive, so it will be hard for me to upload both one- and multi- files install. Also I doubt that planetdeusex.ru host will be able to store ~400mb for these two versions.

Ded, thanks for the reply. Appreciate the quick response. I didn't realise about the financial implications of putting something up for download. Q1 2005 sounds a long way away, but with HL2, and other good stuff (Halo 2) out soon, I'm sure we'll get by.
All the best, good luck at Uni.
