Once in 2003, while I was playing on VOLKRASS server on DXMP_Silo, I found myself in a desperate situation - surrounded by multiple enemies, no health, no medkits. I had 1 LAM, I decided to suicide as a true kamikaze. I threw it under myself, and jumped. Some force put me up to the skies, and I with my lam exploded there, causing a flesh rain.
It was so unexpected - everyone laughed, but then people started accusing me in cheating. Noone knew about this bug back then.

I still have a hairy feeling it must have been discovered in 2001. I could go in a full server of CMD right now and there is a good chance nobody would understand why i shoot through doors.
My point is that such tricks dont necessarily spread in a community as segmented as dxmp. I recall some story when messiah nade-jumped with speed aug, i dont know which year that was.
One group of people stops playing this game, while 10 newbs come and take over. Often they have to discover the tricks on their own.

Of course someone discovered it earlier but it wasn't as popular as much later.
Same with lam/gas bug. The elite of 2002-2003 didn't know about it for sure. Only a few guys did, and they kept it a secret. And that's why it was fixed so late.
