What would people's opinions be on a re-release of the original DX on PSN and Xbox Live for a resonable price, good/bad idea?

Bad idea. Square Enix don't deserve income from a videogame they didn't publish.

Plus console.

Dear god, not PS2 DX again on modern consoles!! D:

Good idea. I wouldn't have played the PC version if it wasn't for the PS2 version.

Would be cool but it probably wouldn't work at all on console.

Worst idea since PS2 DX.

I hope you're done with that god awful version Allan.

'm guess that will never happen, characters were created by people not now in the Square Enix loop. EM is where SE will focus their income...
Would be interesting to know how much dough Pacotti made from consulting DEHR's team too.

They don't deserve it, but they do have the legal right to make such a port if they wanted to.

I think it would be a great idea

Hard to say, but I think EM feel it's stealing their own thunder to revive someone else's project, they want to show as a new studio that they are capable of everything, including creating new content.

But Deus Ex isn't being released for PSN. It's Deus Ex: The Conspiracy.

Bah, semantics!

It's a bad game, Deus Ex is not.

Ultimately yes, the PC version will always be better than the PS2 version, in my opinion (and mainly because you can not only mod it but also because I hate any shooter on a console) but frankly, I don't see how that makes it a "bad game".

Games are not judged purely on gameplay alone, and they never should be. I hate the fact so many people judge a game based entirely off only its gameplay, or its graphics, or storyline, etc. The game incorporates all of these aspects and therefore it should be seen as such. Saying it has better gameplay than another game is fine, saying it's a better game overall just because it has a better gameplay is not.

The latter doesn't take into account the storyline, audio or mechanics behind the gameplay itself.

I have many reasons to dislike the PS2 version's gameplay, but the main one I came to near end-game is that if you get killed whilst operating a security computer, you get thrown into a limbo-state whereby you can't pause, you can't soft-reset, you can't die (since you're already dead), and you have to reset the bloody console to try again. And another one of my pet hates makes an even stronger comeback than in the original - Multiple load-screen levels.

Though I can't fault DX's original storyline, I feel its ported execution to the PS2 was sub-par. Not terrible, just sub-par.

If we count random lockups as GPF's: Yes. Though it did have something to do with me getting every UNATCO trooper to chase me throughout their building like something out of a Benny Hill sketch.

I can agree with this and I'm not calling the game good, I'm just not going to call it a "bad game" and stick it on the same level as other games I consider "bad" when ultimately, it's still got the environment, storyline and audios of the original Deus Ex.

The gameplay sucks, yes, and I'll always recommend people play the PC version. There's no real reason not to nowadays: Most people have some computer, whether it be a laptop or desktop, and anything you got in the past 10 years is going to run Deus Ex.

If they can get it to work on a Mac, sure.

Yes, I realise what you're getting at: I'm a hypocrite for using my own pet peeve rather casually.

I'd go back and change it but I realised it still works.

if they get it to work like it worked on the PC then i hope they make it for the XLA

I shouldn't see why not, if they used the quick-inventory system like in DX:HR (that to be honest, I only know about from letting a console playing friend use my PC with a control pad) as opposed to a scrollable list of items you can select/deselect for use. (Possibly same for augs too, w/ different button for activation?)

And the original DX inventory Tetris instead of max of 4 guns, infinite room for EVERYTHING ELSE.

Not at all.
It's like playing FIFA or Tekken on a pc to me...

I don't hate shooters on consoles. It just feels more casual (COD), so i couldn't play a game in the DX series on it.
