Interesting video, I like how i.e. the first keypad they come to they know the code because they've put the same code in every game they've worked on, the pass code to their actual building haha.

Was a fun watch, good insight.

The 0451 code is hilarious. The joke that never dies, it seems.

More impressed that they still know the smashthestate code after so long.

Adds a very personal, intimate dimension to the game by allowing us to see the creators experience their own game almost for the first time due to the passing of so much time. I just wish Smith was there with them and that they'd let Pacotti talk a bit more.

I'm still amazed by the inventory system they created there.. I don't think I've ever seen one as good as that. The note about hotkeys was spot on, I mean, those guys there must've seen a lot of games since Deus Ex, and in comparison the user interface in the 15 years old game is simply insane even by today's standards. It was so good that I even thought about how it'd work in DXMP, precisely because of the hotkeys. Those that played DXMP longer already learned to toggle turrets by keyboard, saving precious seconds.

The inventory/hotkey system was way before it's time, honestly. Incredibly clever system we only see emulated in MMOs, really.

More games would do well with hotkeys, frankly.

This video cemented my appreciation for Pacotti, he sounds like such a sweetie. (aint gonna lie, he looks cute too imo.)
Really do wish he would of talked more though, maybe about the inspirations and writings he might of drawn from to create what he did? It'd be great to know the philosophers and public figures he might have kept in mind when writing the dialogue for Morpheus, Helios, and JC (especially JC in invisible war. post-human society? hot diggity.)

Aquinas, Chesterton, Adam Smith for sure.
