I was curious on what you guys would think of a DXMP reboot on the source engine.

I started playing around with it in a copyright infringing way but realized I had no idea how to do animations. And later came to the conclusion that inspired by was better than ripping it right off.

Gives an excuse to get rid of the Clunky feel DXMP had and give it a more valve feel.


Here's what I have so far.



Give me some feedback on this and suggestions. The remote terminal aug will really make things exciting.

Game design overview


Movement

Movement Speed will be 5MPH walking/sneaking, 14MPH running.



Biological Enhancements

Speed

Run 25MPH, Jump 40 feet in the air makes a loud hum that other players can hear, you can hear it too but its much quieter than it is for others. Reduces fall damage too. (High Drain)

or

Sneak

Makes you absolutely silent even when running, removes all noises but gunshots. (Low Drain)


Energy Weapon Shield

Reduces energy weapons damage by 30%, causes rockets and grenades to explode when within 15 feet. (High Drain)

Or

Active Ballistics Armor

Causes your skin to become as hard as Kevlar offering a 30% reduction of damage from incoming bullets. (Low Drain auto activated)


Remote Terminal (Passive)

Enables the user to hack security bots, security turrets, computers and more.

Or

Clone

Creates an exact clone of you but an NPC, its also half retarded and misses most of its shots. Its better to use this as a decoy to distract enemies when you go and do something else. (High Drain)


Super vision

OpenGL wallhack as a gameplay feature, brush’s like walls, movers (Windows/doors) and actors like crates become transparent. Enabling you to see through them. Targets automatically light up with Green for friendly or red for enemy. (Low energy drain)

or

Cloak

Enables the user to become invisible (High energy drain)


Fishman

Ability to produce your own oxygen with your energy reserves when in water through electrolysis

Or

Environment Resistance

Resistance to poison and radiation.


Health Regeneration

Regenerates your health when activated

or

Defibrillator

After you die if your head is still attached you can be revived. This is sure to shock people the first few times this happens to them.


Weapons

Two choices of SMG

P90 or MP5


Two choices of Pistols

Glock 9mm Or FN 509 compact


Two choices of Rifles

M4/M16 or AR15


Sniper Rifle

Barret 50 cal (slow movement speed) or scout sniper (fast movement)


Grenades

Because it's the future the grenades will be really spacey, They can be either placed with a proximity fuse or thrown and detonated. Explosive, EMP and gas grenades will be in the game.


Energy weapons (Drains energy reserves)

Energy Sword

Has an energy beam that can cut through steel like a hot knife through butter.


Plasma Rifle

Creates high energy plasma with microwave energy exposed to organic biological matter. The organic matter becomes a superheated plasma and its propelled out of the barrel with a small explosive force similar to how a bullet leaves a chamber.


One shot kill at 3 feet anywhere on the body, damage is cut in half every 2 feet. At 40 feet the weapon is completely non-lethal.


Laser Cannon

Two modes, Pulsed (low drain) or continuous.

Pulsed mode will drain all your energy in about 50 shots.

Continuous mode will drain all your energy in about 15-20 seconds.


Special Ammo

Sabot Rounds -Armor piercing

Incendiary rounds – Lights the enemy on fire


Katana or Crowbar


RPG

Two modes, Laser pointer follow or thermal image lock.


Light Anti Tank Weapon

The strongest weapon in the game, can one shot kill anything.





Gameplay modes

Death Match, Team DeathMatch


Special Gameplay modes


SUPER TANK

A mad scientist has become a terrorist and modified one of the wireless recharging stations to increase its range to cover an entire room. He also modified the laser cannon, plasma cannon to be much more powerful and its continuous fire mode can be used indefinitely as well as all of the enhancements.


This room has 3-8 ways in and will be very large. He can’t respawn but everyone else can.


VIP

You must escort a VIP who is armed only with a pistol through wavepoints to safety through either an old military base or some sort of Industrial complex.


The enemy team may respawn indefinitely where the VIP team cannot. If the VIP makes it to safety he wins.





Special Items

jetpack – Increase your Y axis position in the world well generating a flame ball projectile below the player. Great for outdoor maps. Same behavior as bowenbeans.


Security Drones

Commercial – Armed with 9mm pistol, ammo can be loaded from behind it. Automatically reloads clips semi-automatic holds 11 bullets.


Military Security Bot


Medium

Armed with 5.66mm fully automatic rifle with a continuous feed mechanism.


Large

Has multiple rocket launchers, Twin 50 caliber fully automatic rifles.

Sounds like a good idea. I've been wanting to see this game with more modern graphics and gameplay.
