I just let my Dad buy a Dell...

I scored a Dell from an auction 2 years ago. So far its been very stable except for the pathetic dvd
burner they use (GWA-4164B). Most of the dell computers use crappy dvd burners which fail to read
cdroms, dvds etc after a while. Hitachi-LG branded dvd burners.
A brand new good quality dvd burner was installed and the problem went away.
Dell Optiplex 170L with 3.2gig cpu, 1 gig ram, 160 gig sata hdd. Paid $350au for it.
If you get a descent dell for cheap enough, buy a brand new motherboard and case of your own
choice, and put all the hardware onto the new board. Cheap way to upgrade to a better computer.
