Interesting read.
Then, late last week, Take-Two filed a lawsuit against 3D Realms accusing 3D Realms of dragging its feet on the Duke Nukem Forever project, which began in 1997 and has not materialized since.
I can understand this personally. Honestly, while DNF looks like a decent game NOW it could've been done years ago if 3D Realms hadn't fucking slacked off. If they'd gotten their shit together I could be playing it right now.
Sound messy? Apparently it is. Broussard says negotiations between the two companies fell apart on May 4 after Take-Two changed the terms of the agreement, forcing 3D Realms to fire the Duke Nukem Forever team and retrench.
This explains the closing down message on the website and leak of game footage (for developers own portfolio's, fair enough too IMO).
Still, they're still laying off the 3D Realm workers and halting development of DNF for now. I stand by my original statement: 10 YEARS AND THIS IS WHAT WE GET!?
Take-Two are bastards, 3D Realms are slackers. Welcome to the gaming industry boys! Grab your weapons, we're going to war!
Blood is thicker than water and sweeter than candy.
