The idea that Macs are better for graphics/editing comes from early 90s when all typographies, all publishers, all designers were using Macs. Now it's nothing more than a marketing trick. Apple might have a couple of known software exclusives (Final Cut Studio, for instance), but PCs have hundreds if not thousands of them (like #1 3d modelling suite — 3DSMax, all Corel programs, most audio editing programs etc). Even Adobe Photoshop CS4 on Mac runs slower than on Windows.
Mac OS X, though, is generally faster than Vista, consumes less memory, and Snow Leopard (future version that comes out in September) will be entirely 64 bit.
The idea that Mac hardware is faster is absolute bullshit, because Macs are just normal PCs with EFI instead of BIOS and put in nice-looking cases. It all doesn't justify their prices (and the fact that prices don't lower with time), especially in Europe and especially in Russia.
An equivalent of Mac Pro can be built/bought for a 2.5 or even 3 times cheaper price.
