Take AMD and Nvida together and you create a storybook title.
Q4 2011, AMD & Nvidia release their new 28nm families into our fucked up world.
Once again, AMD has a badass code name, while Nvidia's is...
...Keplar
It sounds like Caviar, or Kelp? WHY??? Who the fuck comes up with this shit?
AMD's is Southern Islands which is pretty cool. Islands are hot though, so I predict the HD 7000 family to be pretty toasty.
Nvidia's Caviar GPU is expected to deliver 3 to 4 times better performance per watt than Fermi. This means no more house fires kids! Transistor count will remain high while the card is MUCH more energy efficient, and cool.
AMD? Nobody has a clue what the hell they're up to. In fact, this is why they continue to choke Nvidia with their 12" erection cards.. BECAUSE THEY SHUT THE FUCK UP AND KEEP DEVELOPMENT CONFIDENTIAL. The only thing really going around at the moment is that AMD is developing a 3D kit such as Nvidia's 3D vision kit. If so, and if it works better, then guess what brand I'm switching to.
Long story short, it's predicted that this time around, they're going to run neck and neck, and both cards will have much lower temps.
*On a personal note, I'm going to stick with a GTX 560 Ti as it's a great card for the price (just about every game runs great with max settings), and 28nm is right around the corner.. So why pay $500+ on a card that's going out soon? I'd rather save the extra money to go towards the 680 when it comes out.. or Hell, maybe even a Radeon.
