R.I.P Netbook

Postby ynnaD » Sat May 14, 11 9:45 pm

My netbook is slowly dying on me, it could last a while yet but i'm moving to Dublin for a year soon, so i would like to replace it before i spend the rest of the money on essentials, so i thought i'd ask the people who know better about a replacement, laptop preferrably.

I'm not sure of the budget i'm gonna have but i think anything up to 500 quid wud be alright, preferrably lower but i can stretch that far, i know its not much but can't afford to go much higher tbh, restricts me but can't be helped, I would like something that could play better games than this netbook can (which struggles to play anything that has graphics better than half life so you can see what i mean, it aint great but does a job) i'm not gonna be pro gaming on it or anything but just something that could play a decent single player game would be appreciated, even if it could just play Deus Ex Invisible War lol which i'm still yet to play :/

Again i'm not sure what i should be looking for so thought i'd ask your fine selves, any ideas? Thanks!

I was going to say, if you're aiming to replace a netbook, get a chromebook (higher quality with Google Chrome OS on it) but seeing as you're wanting to play games...

I would think any bog standard i3 laptop will run Invisible Wars just fine. If you want a normal sized laptop, look at HP. If you want a small, portable laptop of equivalent power, look in to Samsung.

Okay, because the price range of netbooks to laptops is around 150 quid. So you could find a really good netbook for quite a good price.

This looks good, Bale gave me the specs for his computer which look great also, i'm narrowing down my options slowly!

On a side note, i installed Visual Studio 2010 on my lappy and it takes my lappy about 10 mins to run a program, poor girl is starting to wear down
:( lol

Listen to James.

If you don't have an issue with getting a desktop, make a gaming rig for about 500/600 . Then you'll be able to play any pc game :)
