New content is fine, sure, but if something isn't broke, do not fix it

To me, things can change A LOT between the release and success of the first game and then the creation of the 2nd game. If a writer leaves, or a gameplay designer starts working on another project then to me, just don't try to mess with the game (especially if the people who write the story and create the gameplay of the original good game are not available).
This isn't to say all sequels are bad, it's just a lot of them are. Too many. That and I'm sick of seeing <RANDOM> 2 or <RANDOM> 3!!!! COMING OUT IN STORES NEAR YOU!
All it tells me is that the developers/publishers were too cheap and too lazy to come up with a new storyline for a completely different game. So, instead, they took the base of a previous game, redone the storyline a little bit (if it has one) and wacked a sticker on it and marked it a "sequel".
Shiny wrappers, lots of colouring, awesome graphics and good marketing - THESE DO NOT MAKE A GAME. If you're apart of the group that thinks "Good Graphics = Good Game" then you can go fuck your sister up the ass and rip out your eyes with a fucking Scythe. And, if you're still living after the whole eye thing (which I would assume a lot would be, just in immense pain) you can then go ram a fucking knife through your skull.
Too graphic? My apologies, but I really hate fucktards who think a game is composed entirely of good, awesome-looking graphics and even though the gameplay and storyline are as dull as a block of wood, they still think it's the best game in the damn world.

Psy wrote:In all 3 meanings, a sequel would carry on from the previous game. Therefore, if no plot elements of the previous game are event mentioned in the sequel, then it shouldn't be considered as a sequel and therefore, not classed as a sequel to the game (like GAME NAME 2, or whatever).
Psy wrote:For example: The GTA games don't really have anything to do with each. From the one to the other, their storylines are all unique. But their gameplay is fairly similar with few notable differences (the main gameplay aspect being that it's a sandbox game where you can do anything you like). Same with a game like The Elder Scrolls, the storylines aren't very similar but the plot is.
