Bitcoins don't kill you. Miners do work, and unprepared work may be risky. This seems perfectly normal to me.

If you don't want to work, you're free to go and buy them on an exchange.

If they don't "catch on" that will happen for another reason, that is lack of goods on the market and therefore volatile rates.

Only the best.

It was an exaggerated post. To be frank, Bitcoins sound like too much bullshit to get going, or to care about.

Bitcoins will die out, and nobody will give a shit. You can quote me on that.

Bitcoins are way too easy to steal. I'm sure you heard of the Mt. Gox hack in which $8.75M worth of bitcoins was stolen. One guy had $400K stolen when his computer got hacked. I think around 10% of the currency is stolen.

This is relatively an old technology which did not really launch to its potential. Sort of like a failure to launch with no offense meant to the developers. It really is a good idea to have some sort of unified currency you can use to trade with online but users never got to really embrace the idea.

For one, I don't think that a lot would be willing to use a currency that is not that stable yet. Personally, I tried this once but the promised network of support did not attract me, good thing that I just shaved off a few just to try it out.

Agreed. Just a thing hyped for the last 10 years using "potential real currency" as the catch. The lack of trade and the security compromises may have damaged it for the wrong run.

I find anyone supporting the BitCoins craze as more than a fad are being very naive, there's tons of arguments I do not want to go through which is why I didn't want this thread in the first place -- the currency isn't going anywhere either so it'll be a waste of time.
