cataclyzm wrote:Granted it may have the most firepower, but that's just reversing the old saying of brains over brawn. The Blacktail should be your basic weapon, and the Red9 should be a choice if you want to take down enemies with more firepower. Otherwise, a tactical choice would be Blacktail; a powerful choice would be Red9.

Counter-argument would be to say its more tactical to conserve your ammo by having more power behind every single bullet

Against a trickle of enemies, handgun is there for the job, but since its a few or one at a time, rate of fire or reload speed is negatory

Against a horde of enemies, I generally use handguns as a long - medium range weapon, and then if the horde gets too close for comfort, revert to my shotgun for its "blast" appeal. Therefore whatever specs your handgun has, it just doesnt matter especially as long as you have your trusty boomstick to rely apon.

Against strong enemies, unless the handgun has a particular advantage, I rarely use said gun. Shotguns, TMP and sniper rifles taking dominance here.

Against bosses, with Mendez and Salazar, Handguns have uses, same affect as using the TMP. Otherwise just break out the big guns and blast away.

So in my tactical gameplay strategy, when I use a handgun its generally used against 1 - 3 small time enemies.

Duder, if you have a different strategy, then its cool :D

I use shotgun on general enemies, if there's a single enemy I use the pistol. My pistol ammo is racking up >_> So I need to use it and not waste it, but get rid of it the same way. Against bosses, I use grenades first, then pump 'em full of lead and explosives.

As I am only in the Dragon Room, I completely fail to see how the hell the game progresses from creepy, dark gloomy European village, to some weird Military facility.

I'm (I think) getting far in the game. I'm in the part on the castle where Leon throws a knife in Salazar's hand and the elevator and the dodging knife bit. The verdugo was easy as fuck with the RPG. I also killed a lot of Dr. Salvadors. My main weapons:

Broken Butterfly (5) + ammo (2)
Rifle Semi Auto (4)
Blacktail (21) + ammo (40)
Striker (12)
TMP (30) + ammo (30)
8000 pesetas.

What do you guys recommend?

Just got the Striker and killed Verdugo, (Man he was fun to fight with the RPG, I loved his death sequence (L) now I'm in the mines, I was killed by Dr. Salvador after he failed to fall down after 6 Blacktail shots to the knees.

Right, the Salazar duder, he was fscking hard, he made me lose 5/6 of all my ammo. Right now, I'm at the island, the first save point with the merchant. ;D

I also just bought a Killer7, and it has more firepower than the butterfly!

The Butterfly has a much higher max firepower though, and beats it in other areas.

I am completely stuck on the bit with the falling cylinder things.

On the bit where there are three of them in a row, I try going through one then waiting for chance to run through the next two, but that doesn't work and I get crushed because they are too close togethor. I try making a desperate sprint through them all, but die on the third one.

The annoying thing is, I haven't had a chance to save it at this point from the beginning of the chapter, and if I don't get through this bit and find a savepoint then I'll have to face Dos Gigantes and the Novistador cave AGAIN.

Hmm. I'd recommend a Striker for the cave anyways.

Shoot Salvador before he jumps off. That way you can run him over. If not, use a grenade or blast him with the striker till he's dead. That's how I beat the mine cart, I just shot the enemies before they could jump off.

No, not on that bit.

The bit with the Ganados who pulls the lever and makes the Mine Cart stop.

I was concentrating on the other 5 Ganados's in the Mine Cart and barely noticed Mr. Salvy creeping up to me on my right.

That's the part I was talking about. He's gonna jump off right before the Ganado pulls the lever, now's the time to shoot 'im.

always stay on the back of the cart

that way you can see every enemy in front of you, plus dangers to do with teh actual circuit

when it stops, u can shoot the lever, just make sure to grab the shells to your left as it starts up again

Aye, finished the Mine Cart bit.

Staying at the back of the cart when the Wooden plank has to be avoided, and there are Ganados on the mine cart is useful.

Just faced Salazar, he wasn't much on the attack side, but JESUS at what the middle thingy does. I didn't even realise it could attack, and I was just standing still shooting it when I realised what it does..

The Rocket Launcher kills him instantly anyway (At least, the one Ada gives you does) What a waste of 3 Magnum rounds.

Ada gives me a rocket launcher? I bought a rocket launcher from the merc >_>

Anyways, I defeated Saddler by making him bow down or whatever he does, then shot him. Besides, I had 14 magnum rounds, and 4 magnum ammo. And I didn't even know, so stfu >_> The hardest thing to fight was "It" -- I wasted ALL my ammo, but luckily I had some cash and cheated the merchant by buying max capacities for all my guns xD

I just avoided him altogether in the maze. I used the rocket launcher when he has the ability to dig through stuff.

Current Progress - Round 2 - cemetery xD
