Despite having a 5 character party in FFIV, your main character can't morph into an esper/GF/Eidolon/Summon/whatever you want to call it. Which makes FFVI superior.
That, and FFIV sucks because you have to get the main character beaten up by itself to make it become a Paladin. And you can't fight back. AND you face a boss before that. So if you're not healthy enough to take a couple of hundred HP off, you're fucked.
