Nintendo pushing for GTA on Wii.

OLD News, (Like late '06) but I just heard of it now.

Reggie Fils-Aime reveals that Nintendo have been doing all they can to convince Take-Two to bring GTA to the Wii.

Over at Planet Grand Theft Auto it is being reported that Nintendo of America president, Reggie Fils-Aime was interviewed by an American television station at the end of 2006 to discuss all things Nintendo. Eventually the subject of Grand Theft Auto was brought up and Reggie seemed insistent that Nintendo were doing all they can do get the franchise onto a Nintendo format.

“Nintendo has done all it can to persuade Take-Two Interactive Software to bring the Grand Theft Auto franchise to Nintendo consoles, and it is now up to the third party publisher to decide whether Rockstar Games' immensely popular series will appear on Wii.”
After a lack of third party support for the Game Cube which, at least in part, led to its downfall, it is good to see Nintendo taking a keen interest in popular third party franchises and developers. As Reggie says, the ball is now in Take-Two’s court but we could well be seeing a GTA title on the Wii in the future!

Considering they've already announced Table Tennis for Wii, Manhunt 2 for Wii, hopefully they are just testing the waters for a Wii GTA release.

I hope that the watered down graphics will not affect the new gameplay, but I can't see them doing anyting unique with the Wii remote.

Ditto. They can push it too far. It probably won't even compress, not unless there is a spin-off or something.

The only thing they'd have to do is redesign some stuff but keep their features and shit avalible.

There's already a GTA like game on the Wii in the form of Scarface.

I'd get it on the XBOX and save my Wii for more interactive games, like Red Steel.
