Wheel, pedals, gear

Postby Dae » Wed Aug 22, 07 10:25 pm

Image Wheels with pedals and gear were my dream of childhood, but then parents refused to buy it because "it's for kids, you're gonna drive a real car soon". My dream didn't come true, instead it rooted in my subconsciousness making me still want to buy all these things, although now I have a driving license...

The question is, is the set worth buying? Are gear + pedals worth buying or maybe wheel is enough?

Any good games sharpened for all these things?

Thanks.

Theyre shit tbh, unless you glue the wheel to something that makes it easy to actually steer it.

@Derek - Wasn't there a special Resi-Evil 4 controller that was like a Doctor Salvador chainsaw?

They're awesome but I haven't tried them with a proper simulator like Need For Speed. In GTA San Andreas, the only racing game I have installed atm, I drive worse with a wheel than with arrows. I think that is because of stupid dynamics in the game, not to mention it doesn't support pedals and gear =/
I dled NFS, gonna try.

Haha I'd say its real hard with the steering wheel in SA, and yeah im sure NFS will be awesome with the set.
I hope for the people of Peterburgs sake, that you are able to handle the set with a game, because if not.. you should re-take the test? lol

In NFS pedals and gear aren't working and something sends signal "Down" to the game and when i go into any menu it constantly scrolls down. Argh Logitech :evil:

Get Live for Speed S2, it's probably the best driving simulator out there. And while you're at it, get GTR.

Both really realistic driving games.

My dad saw me playing NSF Most Wanted and I gave him to try the game with wheels and pedals. IRL he is a very experienced car driver with aggressive style of driving, but he got like 20 crashes in the game before reaching the end of the race as last...
Why do the developers of every racing game I play think that its cool when car has dynamics of a fucking boat? At 80 Kmph I can't turn anywhere because the car is like on ice!
He tried to configure the sensitivity and range of the wheel, but no luck.

By the way I fixed the problem of menu constantly going down and pedals not working. Fortunately it was explained in Logitech's FAQ.

I would really like some rallies or city racing

Yes,

Exactly how mine looks, except older and I rarely use it.

@Dae,
If you want Rally, look up FlatOut.

Life For Speed is absolutely un-friendly to my G25 wheel, I've spent 40 minutes trying to make pedals work and still no success...

now i found that the default position of the wheel = turning left 45 degrees in game

I can't find where I can calibrate the wheel in game...

Assigning to buttons isn't always a good idea

Ahh I wish they would let us use the G25 on the 360. I NEED A CLUTCH DAMNIT!

Dae, I suggest you head over to the Forza Motorsport 2 forum and read around for the best racing sim on the PC; I've seen many people referring to a certain game as THE racing sim, but I don't remember what game.
