Portal is ownage

Postby exprinced2000 » Tue Mar 11, 08 1:09 am

Oh man, I figured i'd put up a post about Portal!

You know, the game where you shoot portals to get around obstacles? Great game! Beat it in around an hour second-time.

Beat it in 3 hours. I liked it, except for the plot.

I quite liked it. The cake is a lie had rippling effect through out me and my friends of:
-Me"Im gonna get a cake from the Canteen."

-Friend "NOOO... THE CAKE IS A LIE!!!"

Of course lots of other people got this as well, its a great game

The game play is awesome as well, its just such an innovating type of game.

Portal is great and I found it a lot more memorable than the second episode of Half Life.

Played it on PS3 two times, with and without developers commentaries.

No way. Half-Life 2 Episode Two was the best addition to the series yet. Half-Life is a lot better than Portal.

Well no crap, lol. Considering a ton of people consider it up on the list of the best PC games of all time (the series that is, not just Half-Life 2 and the episodes).

I got The Orange Box yesterday, really wanna try Portal out lol. But I can't do anything with it until I can update Steam... and that is why I HATE STEAM AND THEY CAN GO TO HELL AND BURN! I shouldn't have to pay for the damn thing and THEN also have to update a stupid program I'll NEVER use...

That's how I felt because I had Xfire. I don't use Xfire anymore, got used to Steam because I was running it all the time anyway.

But Steam has to get miniprofile sigs, then they will completely beat Xfire.

If Steam also had better Clan support they'd also pwn Xfire, but they don't. I think Steam is a waste of fucking space, it's only purpose is to stop people from cracking the game.

In another note. Portal owns all. Half-Life 2 is sweet but Portal fucking owns. And the stupid goddamn second episode of Half-Life 2 won't work on my laptop. Dunno why, did they change the graphics significantly compared to HL2 and HL2:E1? Because for the time I could play it if didn't look any difference except the torch/power signal was in a different place and the Video Options menu had changed.

Yeah, EP2 runs on a largely updated engine.

Various optimisations and bugfixes, motion blur, for some less lag and FPS increase..

Plus, things such as Vortigaunts and Eli Vance are re-textured.

Yeah, thought so lol. My shitty laptop can run it but it gets to this particular part and then fucks up. It's really annoying. It's like the bit where Alyx says "Those buildings look like they've had some use recently" and then says we have to get to them. And then when I try to go up the slope it glitches out.

My graphics card sucks but it can run Portal fine (lags a bit more than I'd like though). I wouldn't mind an external graphics card but I hear they're fucking expensive.

It's just EP2 that fucks up, and on the LOWEST graphics quality too...

Portal was awesome, and was better than the HL2 Episodes imo.

I guess most of those who download it now will have completed it by then.

I wonder, did they actually have a "charity/donation" business model in mind? It's just too long for a regular demo.
