I am not a fan of the series, more so speaking of the 3D versions.
Ninja Gaiden makes me cringe because I know for a fact it's a blatant rip of Devil May Cry although harder, better generic AI and (at the time) more skill required.
I kinda like the first game except for a few reasons:
- The developers tried too hard with making trash enemies ...well too hard. Where the butter enemies should be easy for the player to release enjoyment instead of frustration and shame of being beaten by a lowly grunt.
- Characters are soulless and empty, Ryu has got to be the most boring self-insertion character ever. The guy has hardly any emotion or interest other than being the usual Japanese quiet hero. Rachel comes close behind, she has character but is let down by her FAT design and ugliness. Ayane is cool but a generic unnatural coloured hair anime chick who is sinister in some ways.
That is my opinion, I don't like the game for those reasons.
However the DS version, which is basically a remake of the first game but only a sequel because of a new plot is FANTASTIC and well worth the play, because it's a lot different and fun to play possibly making it the best DS game so far for game-play in my opinion. Plus it doesn't feel like a DMC clone.
I played Ninja Gaiden 2's demo lately and oh boy, I HATE it. They've hardly done nothing new at all from what I've seen to the first game and I can't even touch it again and bother to see the full game. I guess fans of the series will like it but hey I'm not a fan.
