KVM Switch

Postby Alex » Fri Jul 04, 08 10:41 am

Hi all.

I'm currently moving 2 PC's of mine into a small area, and I would like to be able to control both of them. I used to do this by having a monitor for each PC alone, same with mouse and keyboard, but there are two issues with this, first, there's not enough space for 1 monitors... and second, my 'backup' monitor (A CRT one), no longer lives.

I'm not here to discuss how my CRT monitor died, I'm looking here for advice when it comes to KVM switches.

Both my mouse and keyboard use USB, and the connection of my monitor is D-Sub (VGA).

It would be great if both input and output are D-Sub, and not DVI, seeing as both my PC's only support D-Sub, and I only have 1 DVI->D-Sub converter. (Maybe I have one stacked somewhere though, or if I don't have another option - I'll buy one).

So I basically need a KVM switch for 2 pc's, maybe 3 to think of the 'future' or some? (As I still have a motherboard and processor lying around here)

So... anyone know a good KVM switch? :)

Well, I bought the 'Conceptronic 2 ports USB pocket KVM Switch with audio'
SKU: CKVM2UM, EAN: 8714909009713

Thanks for the help guys :P

Anyways, I hope to receive it within 5 days, so I can install a second PC on the same monitor etc. Wont be sharing audio though, seeing as I don't have any reason to.
