I forgot to tell you all about this, for those who completed No More Heroes will of heard of this Shock Adventure game through a speech from the final boss:

In Yume Nikki (Dream Diary), you're cast as a young girl living in a small apartment. There is very little to do in your room, but fall asleep and an entire dream world is yours to explore. The Z key can be used to interact or gain new effects. Certain locations beyond each door may yield more than one effect for the player to discover. Press 9 to wake yourself up. Use the desk in the room to save your progress, and hold the escape key for more than two seconds to exit the NASU console game.

Acquiring the bicycle, lamp and knife should be at the top of your list, as these items will double your character's speed, light up dark areas and allow basic attack moves to be executed. Nearly all locations are wrapped around, hence walking in one direction endlessly will always bring you back to the starting point.

The game is 40mb of freeware; http://rs24.rapidshare.com/files/104437 ... .10eng.rar

I'll tell you this right now:

Game certainly is very creepy. It's like the Pagan land in Thief 2, atmosphere and all.

Taking the I-Dose "Heroin" just before playing also doesn't make it any better.

So I heard about this Uboa and how to get him to appear; it's pretty simple, lightswitches, killing, etc.
I carried out on this, went back and forth with the light switches until it got redundant. Just when I was about to give up, I tried it once more and yeah, ghostly image appears, scary music, room is changed.

I can admit it made me jump, but honestly, it's not THAT scary. It's an anticipation game, do the same thing over and over again and BOOM something random appears. It scares you when you're rested, bored, and ready to try something new. Scare tactic that I've learned to deal with from Thief 2:

I wrote:On a mission called Life of the Party where you have to travel utilizing the rooftops, you'll come across a spire of sorts. Necromancer's Spire, it will be called, on your map.

Now you'll enter the place to find it pretty fucking boring. You'll expect zombies and shit, but not really, just some loot for you to steal and some papyrus to read. You'll look around, be bored, even douse the fire in the main window.

You figure well this is shit boring, then you find a book. You read it and go "lol what? this was useless im gonna go back to Angelwatch" then when you close the book FUCKING ZOMBIES APPEAR

So yeah, Uboa was a little bit scary but not as much as Tree Beast or other things I've seen playing Thief 2. I'm not brave or anything, just I thought the event was going to be fucking scary as brickshitting fuck, but I was a bit let down.

But anyways, this game is pretty cool and creepy. Ever seen any of David Lynch's works? It kind of reminds me of his videos, with overall creepiness but very ethereal. I like games where you wander around, and this game is no exception.

I did not anticipate it

I had no idea it existed

I triggered it by accident

I believe this is why I fear it like I do

The ending to this game is particularly tragic and depressing.

Yes, that is why everyone knows about it. Check out the last bosses' speech (not the actual final fight you can choose to fight).

They broke the 4th wall in that vidya.

I have never know a game to do that, except Max Payne "You're in a computer game, Max."

Sam And Max does it

I have only ever played on Sam And Max game, but from the way they talk, I am going to ASSUME that at some point, Sam And Max did that.

Has anyone played the sequel, Yume 2kki, or the spin-off, Dot Flow?

I heard both are supposed to rival the original, with the latter being centered more on dark and disturbing imagery (the original had its moments of funtimes, aztec rave monkey comes to mind)
