Yearly WASD, OKL; arrow keys, keypad and etc. thread.

What do you use?

WASD, arrow keys til I was about 7. However just read about how useful ESDF could be and using the advantages of being able to stretch my hand farther to the right and having more keys to my left.

Arrow keys; delete/end/page down/numpad 0/slash etc. for other controls.

I use wasd

I wouldnt like esdf cos my little finger would rest on windows key which'd piss me off, i reckon tht maybe rdfg would be good? cos then little finger is on alt and you have more keys to the left.

Your hand works way different to mine, lol.

With WASD my little finger rests on R-Shift, with ESDF it's still on R-Shift (it's just more comfortable lol) and on RDFG it's resting on Z. Keep going along like that and my little finger will just rest on the bottom row of keys (Z, X, C, V, B, N and M, on QWERTY keyboards).

WASD for FPS games.

Tried arrow keys with Deus Ex; MAJOR carpel tunnel!
Here's one for you:

Thumbsticks or keys?

Keys for me.

WAT

Also, I imagine my best gaming keyboard would have a pair of switchable joysticks (one arcade fightan style and one high quality ass regular kind) that cover the WASD keys so you could move more efficiently.

Oh, and WASD.

Woah, for me, that feels real awkward, lol. My shoulder feels to close to my chest and it feels real uncomfortable. But I suppose once you get used to a keyset then it doesn't feel right to try anything else.

What do you mean by "hard core gaming position"? I don't consider myself a "hardcore gamer", a gaming enthusiast yes, but not a hardcore gamer. But of course, depends on the genre, lol. Above all things in relation to gaming, I refer to myself as an information hoarder.

And, as for what keyset I use, WASD for me.

No such thing as a hardcore gamer unless you're playing a PC FPS with a ATARI pad. And winning.

i reckon tht maybe rdfg would be good? cos then little finger is on alt and you have more keys to the left.

Less actually, you lose proper control of the thick keys on the left.

Gamecube and Xbox 360 pad's analog are fantastic for movement so I'd love something like that to be on my keyboard, for aiming you cannot go wrong with the mouse, as long as it isn't simply a point and click game where I wouldn't even bother playing it at all.

I don't mind point n' click games, but I prefer the whole World of Warcraft outtake on them where it's third-person and you use the WASD keys to move. I use WoW because other games generally copy WoW in most things, though I highly doubt WoW was the first PC game to implement that system.
