Arcade Joysticks for the 360

Postby James » Wed Aug 06, 08 2:34 pm

Xbox 360's controller...
Although being one of the best we've seen in the business, it suffers from having one of the worse D-Pads. Sometimes playing beat-em ups on the ordinary pads is a chore. So I want to know if any of you know of a GOOD substitute which is compatible with the system.

I've just had my eye on the new The Real Arcade Pro EX but it seems a little expensive, though it has everything I want on it. Any cheaper alternatives with near-exact button placement?

edit: I keep going back to this fucking post because of spelling mistakes :@

It is common knowledge that the Gamecube pad (tacky as shit though), 360 pad and classic SNES pad are the most easy and effective to use.

I'll agree with the Gamecube pad, never tried SNES.

I wouldn't say the 360 is the most effective; it's easier to snipe on a PS3 controller but not for a rapid fire weapon.

I think the GC's pad with 360's triggers would be awesome.

I disagree, the GC triggers on Mario Sunshine were used innovatively, now if they could innovate anything else...

Switch the D-pad with the movement analog and you've got a good pad.

You should know better then that son; There is no such thing. It is arrogant and incorrect to assert one as 'the best' in an area where the target receptor varies in size, shape, and usage patterns. Even popular vote is flawed in many ways when searching for 'the best', as I'm sue any GC/DC fans would try desperately to argue.

Now, if you want to know what I think is best and why, that's a different topic all together, and usually has 30-40 wall-o-text posts.
("what's [what is] the best" != "what do you think is the best")

Just remember kiddies, it was 'common knowledge' that the world was flat, and 'common knowledge' that Zeus would shove a lightning bolt up your arse for random shits 'n giggles. Think on that before stepping into a fail.
