Well don't leave your faith in the series in the hands of Bethesda!

Play how "it was meant to be played".

Van Buren: The cancelled "tech demo" by the one and only Black Isle Studios.

Download from here:
http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/dload. ... ile_id=892

Or torrent it.

Just finished, fucking excellent, kinda buggy but what do you expect from a tech demo?

Enjoy!

DISCLAIMER: I posted in General Spam as to not shift the gaming topics at hand. Plus I knew this wouldn't get many replies.

edit: POLLS :x

I think Bethesda is doing a good job with Fallout 3 so I'll just wait for that one instead of wasting my time with a buggy tech demo

Hey, I'm looking forward to Fallout 3 but it's always interesting to see how Black Isle would have continued with the franchise.

As long as Bethesda fix those animations, at in at least 4 more house models, and make it look like fun next time, I'll buy Fallout 3

HOPEFULLY we won't have to be in the suburb areas to see those houses much.

How many times can one man say:

"This is an Eye-Bot that broadcasts the message of the Enclave; the last remnants of the US Government

or

"I'll use VATS, which is the Vault-Tec Assisted Targetting System".

Y'know what? Since I like you lot so much, here's a little helping of some ORIGINAL gameplay; however still set in suburbia.

Originally broadcast on Playr, Bravo2, Saturday, 9:00am.

Quality is cack but it's enough to imagine.

The problem I have with FO3 is that I've read about the originals, and playing some of Black Isles games I think that Bethesda have totally fucked FO3 over, in terms of gameplay. They don't obviously like to keep to old traditions or keep old fans happy, which is perfectly fine, but there is always a happy medium.

The only Black Isle Studio game I did have problems with was Icewind Dale II. Played Icewind Dale but I couldn't get past the first area lol (was about 10 when I played it though). IWD2 sucked ass though, I hated it. It had no replayability, in my opinion and it was just plain boring to play.

Fallout 1 and 2 I've never played but I really want to out of hearing what people think about them. Also wanna play Planescape: Torment but do people realise how fucking hard it is to find these games?!

If you can handle Fallout 1, you can handle Torment.

I love Planescape's storyline. I love a lot of D&D storylines though, Planescape is just one of them. I gotta find the games now...

Torrents can go lick balls. I hate using them.

Mere inquiry here: Why?

Because they always download much slower than just download it from something like RS or MU. I've tried downloading them so many times and they all go at like 5kbps (on DSL) or they don't fucking run at all. I've given up on them.

Depends on seeders etc, you can find alot more in torrents, like Planescape per example :P

I know what the factors used in download speed are. But everything I've downloaded had shitty factors, lol. Why does it matter why I hate torrents anyway?

Slow download speed or not, torrents allow one to download anything he/she desires with minimal consequences.

Can you name another service like that?

I can temporarily upload both Fallouts to our server, if there are interested people who would download them.

I recommend everyone to try Fallout, its an absolutely magnificent game with a great story (compared to which all recent games seem stupid), immense nonlinearity and a role-playing factor. Even if you don't like old games with bad graphics, Fallout doesn't feel "old" and its graphics are as good as it should be (letting you imagine the missing details).

Fallout doesn't feel "old"

Actually, I disagree with this. When I was replaying through Fallout 1 I was very frustrated at menu problems and how it could of been executed. No problems with Fallout 2 however....

Old games are a hell of a lot harder than games nowadays. Was playing MegaMan, pretty damn difficult in some areas; same for Contra.

Old topic but I have to quote for motherfucken truth. If it's uploaded that'd be sweet as.
