Looks interesting, in Beta atm, I'll partition my HD and try it later, anyone tried it yet?

Yeah, my mate said it's way better than Vista and I've heard really good things about it. Fuck it, I'm caving and downloading it.

DAMN YOU MICROSOFT. DAMN YOU!!

What I don't like about it is the fact that some people at Microsoft said that Windows Vista was just a filler for Windows 7. That, at least to me, is a really stupid thing to say.

Why bother making Vista then? The time it took for that "filler" to be made and released Windows 7 could have been perfected and we could be looking at a full-release of Windows 7, not just a beta.

Well Windows 7 seems similar to Vista, so it was probably more like a base for 7.

I want to try this, just finished downloading it. I just don't want to screw my system up (seriously, I'm sick of reinstalling the goddamn thing lol).

Anyone know any partitioning software which works for Vista?

Yes, Vista was a base for 7. Hence the free upgrade thing they're doing.

Vista was like a beta for the beta.

I already know about this. This thing sucks, for me anyway. Because I want to make a 40gb partition but it will only let me shrink the C:\ drive by 900mb. That wouldn't hold most of todays Operating Systems.

As of current, I've used gParted for partitioning. It's pretty good too.

Before partinioning make sure to backup your files. It isn't a really safe process from what I've heard.

Believe me, if you have a "dated" PC, Windows 7 is of NO benefit to you whatsoever. But for slaves of Vista, this is a breath of fresh air.

I hope that Microsoft make Windows 7 a free upgrade for Vista customers. They can make enough profit from switching businesses regardless.

I would hope they'd make it a free upgrade but let's face it, this is the world of business. "Free upgrades" is a world that is almost in non-existence.

Indeed, Microsoft have had a breakthrough of sorts and now it's time to milk.

Sorry if I'm late, but may I just say:

Windows 7 is so advanced and intricate, and this complexion layered with its beautiful and unique style, makes for one of the best experiences I've had using a computer. Period.

I honestly love Windows 7, I think it's one of Microsoft's best Operating Systems since XP (which is to say, only Vista is in between XP and 7, and Vista sucked for me).

The only reason I stopped using Windows 7 was because of certain bugs and because when I found out that the trial would end in August I thought well I'll just switch now (couldn't switch back to my Vista though, which pisses me off slightly, but I've got XP Pro on here now which runs more smoothly than Vista anyway).

For me, Windows 7 is a absolutely brilliant OS. It looks sleek, and it runs smoothly even on my laptop which would have the occasional lag with Windows Vista. It fixes many problems Vista had with performance, and for that, I am grateful towards Microsoft.

But as I've said before, I dislike Microsoft referring to Windows 7 as a "Service Pack 2" for Windows Vista. Because, even though it definitely feels like a SP2 for Windows Vista, I know that Microsoft will milk Windows 7 dry until there is no milk left.

I have no doubts in my mind that Microsoft will make us pay for Windows 7, so if that is the case, why bother calling it a Service Pack 2 for Vista? Service Packs have been free, and always have been as far as I have been concerned, and they should be. But if 7 is not free, then they shouldn't refer to is as a Service Pack, simple.

I think it can be quite easily summarised:

Vista tech.

XP speed.

MS are doing a free upgrade if you bought Vista after a certain time last year. That is a huge step for MS imo.

This is something I was actually hoping for, but last year? I didn't buy my OS last year, I got mine pre-installed with my Compaq Presario in Dec 07 (god I hate OEM).

Can't win everything I suppose.

Shouldn't have to. If things weren't so goddamn overpriced people wouldn't have to resort to piracy lol. But you know we probably would anyway, just to be rebellious.

Not really rebellion when hundreds of thousands do it. I would call that conforming.

I'll probably pay for it regardless.
